I admitted as such....his defense is trash, and was the primary reason why the Vikings lost. It's that he had a scenario handed to him to re-write some of the narrative about him....a bunch of nice stats and a .500 record. It is what it is...perception is reality as Steve Young would say. His final (4th and 7) throw will stick, and it should. The problem is bigger than just Kirk Cousins however.....it's the way the league is set up now with the passing numbers through the roof and the salary cap. If you don't have a Mahomes/Allen type of guy, you're simply further behind in todays era as opposed to when guys like Montana and Marino were in their prime.
And I'll say he threw a perfect pass on 3rd down. I agree with you. It's almost like the QB contract shouldn't even count against the cap- an NFL version of the old Larry Bird rule for contracts. It seems like there is no inbetween with the contracts either. You have rookie deals, backup QB deals, and record setting contracts. The Geno and Jimmy deals are going to be very interesting in my opinion, because neither are elite, but both are very good and with the right players around them, can win (Jimmy obviously a lot more so than Geno because of track record). If this were "fair", both of those guys would be getting paid between 25 to 30 million a year. I just haven't seen a recent QB contract averaging under 35 million apy. We will see how this all plays out. If the second tier of guys (Kyler Murray and Dak Prescott for example) work out, this trend will continue.
