I concur

I disagree. They're a much better team on paper than they were last year. And I hate admitting that but it's true. Could they struggle more this year? Absolutely. But they're more equipped to compete in the playoffs this season as opposed to last.

They shouldn't have been in the playoffs last year. They won 9 games but statistically they were more like a 5-7 win team. They had the 26th ranked defense in the NFL. No amount of off-season improvement would make them a true contender or actually competitive with the Niners. They'll be better but the outcome will basically be the same, I'm calling them 8-10 wins max.

btw is there a specific place to b***h about d******ds like cowherd or Wright predicting the Seahawks winning the division? What a f'ing joke. No team is more overhyped right now than Seattle. I'm looking forward to sweeping them again.

The additions of Dre'Mont Jones, Devon Witherspoon, Bobby Wagner, Jamall Adams (IR), and Derrick Hall are nothing to sneeze at.

I hate the Seahawks as much as the next 49ers fan, and I think picking them to win the division before they prove anything is incredibly stupid.

But you have to admit that team has improved quite a bit on paper.

I still believe the Eagles, 49ers, Lions, and Cowboys are better than them... but they're right there with the Cowboys IMO.

I stated they are improved, the point is they were bad last year. We kicked the s**t out of them 3x (we really dominated much of the game in Seattle). Jones is pretty good and an upgrade and Wagner may not fall off a cliff, but unless Witherspoon is all-pro as a rookie their defense won't sniff being as good as Dallas. Dallas was top 5 and Seattle was bottom 5.
So I am back. Admittedly I have lurked a little in here over the last year, I wanted to post time to time but prioritized my well being. My "personal life change" (divorce) is pretty much done. Happy to report that I am mentally and emotionally in a much better place to the point where I can finally start watching/enjoying football (or anything) again. Seriously, do not wish this journey on anyone or if you sadly happen to be on that journey please reach out. I appreciate everyone who after my initial post, put colors aside and just appreciated folks as human beings.

Alright football. Seahawks look better on paper, I don't have much expectations for 2023-24 though, like you all saw the Hawks did NOT finish the year strong, but they far surpassed the expectations for the 2022-23 season. It would be cool to see a *knock on wood* season where Jamal Adams can stay healthy and see what he can contribute. The RW trade turned out to be just fine after all and kind of makes up for the horrible Jamal Adams trade.

My take on the Niners, firmly the front runners for the NFC West (FIRMLY), but hey this is the NFL, its pretty rare the pre-season expectations fully play out. Plus (Sorry y'all) what goes up, must come down. So...the momentum shifts more towards the Hawks, Cardinals in the NFC W (IMO Rams are in almost full rebuild). I am intrigued to see how Purdy plays out for the Niners because obviously all the draft capital was put into the Trey Lance pick, and more teams will have more tape on him. Oh just for my curiosity to the Niner fan base were you all happy with the Trey Lance trade? or given the draft capital spent on Trey would you have preferred he was given more time/chances? I am not a Niners fan so I didn't really follow Trey Lance's progression.

I was with you until the part about the cards. They might not win a game.

Cards either driving or taking the bus to 2-15
this Gannon looks like the defensive counterpart to Gase
Hey look, Frodo's Finger is back, lulz.
Like dirtcheap69 said, all the luck in the world isn't helping cards.
As for Trey, seen enough, for me he was such a project and the window is now, and not waiting for him. As for draft capital, we are not suffering in spite of that. Good to see you've made it out of that personal situation 👍🏽

Glad you are in a better place now Zag and are doing well. What goes up must come down? I disagree because the Niners are built to be great over the next decade so no, that is not true. As far as what goes up must come down, that if anything is your quarterback Geno Smith.

The Seahawks will only give you some anxiety this year but at least they will be playoff contenders. Geno already came back down the last half of the year but the first half was very good and he was definitely playing beyond his normal limitation's. I believe he will not do as well this year and that will hurt your team very much. The run defense was absolutely atrocious giving up 300 yards to multiple teams which has got to be among the worst I've ever seen. But at least Wagner will help out with that.

I was upset that Trey Lance did not work out and the lost draft capital we used. However it wasn't as bad as everyone was making it out to be especially since we were picking 29th and 28th in the first round which might have been a good starter at best.

When you have the cheapest QB in the league, only in his second season, you're window is wide open. It definitely gets harder when we have to pay Purdy.

Welcome back, Zag. One of the better rival fan posters on this site. Glad to hear you are in a better place.

I'll give my 2 cents on the Lance situation. It was just a classic case of both sides needing to move on. It didn't work out, and a change of scenery will do wonders for a young qb. The draft capital given up obviously brings about the pomp and circumstance but I think Purdy giving us hope soothes that burn.

Wb

This current team from top to bottom has about another 2-3 year window as a SB roster. But we have some good young players or just entering their prime. Bosa, Greenlaw, Warner, Ayiuk, Huff, Purdy, and hopefully some of these other guys we've recently drafted

As long as Kyle is still here, there won't be a major drop off. Maybe not a SB roster anymore and we will have to strike gold again on a couple players. We will need a new elite DT once Hargrave/Armstead get into their early mid 30s. Will need to find another good CB once Ward gets into his 30s. CMC probably has another 2-3 years of elite play as well and will need to be replaced, same with Kittle, Deebo.

So there will definitely be some holes and players with big shoes to fill.

Cards have a long way to go until they become competitive again imo, and it definitely won't be this year. They will be in the hunt for the #1 pick

SEA will need Geno to show last season was no fluke and continue to build on his play. 2nd half wasn't that great, but I think he will be alright this year, don't think it was a fluke imo.
