Or really any team for that matter.
I find it a better way than referring to the team as "us" or "we" since..I don't play for the Hawks and don't have anything to do with the organization itself. But referring to them as just The Seahawks kind of feels like I don't show my allegiance. So yes they are My Hawks or My Seahawks. Because it's my team I love and root for. Especially when I'm posting on a rival fan board, it's a to make sure I am showing my connection to my team. MY team vs pretending I am creating distance with them in a bad year, especially when I am being very critical of my own team. Acknowledging...I am going to talk crap about my team, but it's MY team.
I actually agree with this post and your last one.
If anything, the "Go Hawks" thing is real annoying part of Seahawks fans. (besides the 12 fan jerseys which are the worst in the NFL IMO)
Not because of that phrase itself, but online you see fans in comment sections discussing (or arguing) about football... then there's always like 5-6 posts that just say "Go Hawks". It's like Seahawks fans have nothing to offer the discussion besides essentially saying "Go Team!".
Idk why it bothers me but it does.
That's fair. I probably feel very similarly whenever I read things online and people just post "Bang Bang" or something of that nature. It reminds of "Shake and Bake" in Talledega Nights when he responded like "what is this? a catch phrase? epilepsy?".
If i have a criticism on "Go Hawks" even as a Hawks fan is...it's not very original it's something that pretty much any fan could say for their team and it'll work. "Go *insert team for any sport here*" Yep! lol.
It did feel more magical during the prime LOB years though. I think there was an intense connection with the fanbase and the team. The Go Hawks signs everywhere, tapping of signs by players and fans. The energy connection in the stands like the fans were in the grit with the team as every game grinded through the 4th quarter, players did their jobs but the fans also felt like they did their own standing and screaming bloody murder every defensive play of the game (and it felt like it had its own impact too). There was a different connection "back then" which was a decade ago.
