Or really any team for that matter.

I find it a better way than referring to the team as "us" or "we" since..I don't play for the Hawks and don't have anything to do with the organization itself. But referring to them as just The Seahawks kind of feels like I don't show my allegiance. So yes they are My Hawks or My Seahawks. Because it's my team I love and root for. Especially when I'm posting on a rival fan board, it's a to make sure I am showing my connection to my team. MY team vs pretending I am creating distance with them in a bad year, especially when I am being very critical of my own team. Acknowledging...I am going to talk crap about my team, but it's MY team.

I actually agree with this post and your last one.

If anything, the "Go Hawks" thing is real annoying part of Seahawks fans. (besides the 12 fan jerseys which are the worst in the NFL IMO)

Not because of that phrase itself, but online you see fans in comment sections discussing (or arguing) about football... then there's always like 5-6 posts that just say "Go Hawks". It's like Seahawks fans have nothing to offer the discussion besides essentially saying "Go Team!".

Idk why it bothers me but it does.

That's fair. I probably feel very similarly whenever I read things online and people just post "Bang Bang" or something of that nature. It reminds of "Shake and Bake" in Talledega Nights when he responded like "what is this? a catch phrase? epilepsy?".

If i have a criticism on "Go Hawks" even as a Hawks fan is...it's not very original it's something that pretty much any fan could say for their team and it'll work. "Go *insert team for any sport here*" Yep! lol.

It did feel more magical during the prime LOB years though. I think there was an intense connection with the fanbase and the team. The Go Hawks signs everywhere, tapping of signs by players and fans. The energy connection in the stands like the fans were in the grit with the team as every game grinded through the 4th quarter, players did their jobs but the fans also felt like they did their own standing and screaming bloody murder every defensive play of the game (and it felt like it had its own impact too). There was a different connection "back then" which was a decade ago.

It would be devastating if your team lost because this is a SB or bust year for the Niners. The Seahawks (and the fans) have absolutely nothing to lose in a game like that but the Niners would have EVERYTHING to lose. If the Hawks play no mercy even in a loss and y'all end up with a crucial injury or just beat up leading into your next game..or if your team lost. Yeah your offseason would be horrible, because no doubt you would question...did another SB window just get wasted? how much time is left in this window? how are you gonna beat your chest to your Seahawk fan friends knowing their team kicked your SB bound team out of the playoffs?

Meanwhile for the Hawks fan losing that game or missing the playoffs entirely really doesn't do anything at this point. I think most Hawk fans acknowledge the Niners are a vastly superior team at this point, so having our Hawks get their asses kicked really doesn't mean much. it's only when you think that your team is on par (or better) that it's really upsetting in a loss. Right now...my bigger frustration is when is Pete moving on.

Your post is a good one in that playing the Seahawks in the postseason would be very annoying from this standpoint. They would take all the risks, play the loosest, not have the burden of having to win a third time.

It might not be enough to get the job done (wasn't last year), but it was certainly enough to make it a game.

The 2008 Giants are the classic story of a #1 seed that had beaten all 4 conference championship teams during the regular season, only to be 1 and done at home against the Eagles.

Now some Giants fans would say the team was sliding down a bit (this was the year Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg), but was a huge disappointment to their fans as that might've been the best team in the NFL that year.

I see what you're saying. But at the same time, do you own the team, making them YOUR Hawks? I feel like that's kinda the same point as the point you made about referring to the team as "us" or "we."

I sometimes refer to the Niners as "us" or "we" but I try not to because you're right, I don't play for them, and it does sound kinda dumb to say.

As far as posting on a rival forum, and needing to show connection to your favorite team....your username pretty much does that lol. I don't think by not referring to them as "my Hawks" you would be creating distance with them in a bad season. The only way you would do that is if you stopped following them in a bad season, and stopped posting about them.

Obviously, it's all personal preference. I just think it sounds annoying and cringey to hear people say "my (insert team name)" when referring to their favorite team. I guess it's worse for me when I see it coming from Hawks fans, for obvious reasons. But, I had a co-worker who was a Packers fan and always called them "my Packers" and that always made me cringe too.

By the way, I agree that seeing someone say "Bang bang" about the Niners is also pretty cringey too. I love the Niners, and I've been watching every second of every game since I was like 10 yrs old, but I've never participated in the "Bang bang" thing lol.

Ok, end rant.

I'm not a fan of "bang bang" either. Or the first down "300" celebration. But others disagree.

At candlestick in the late 1990s and early 2000s, there used to be a video that looked like you were going down a track on a mining cart and they overlayed highlights of the games where like Jeff Garcia would throw to Owens and the ball was "gold" and glowing.

Its hard to explain but I always thought that was the best into/pump up video in the NFL. I wish they brought that back. It was very unique to the team IMO.

My point is, as much as I'm a fan of this team, I'm not afraid to admit I'm not a fan of everything our fans do or things about the team.

It's hard to find a decent 49ers hat as well. Patrick Willis was wearing a really cool one but it wasn't available to the public.

I also wish our new stadium had a giant pickaxe like the Bucs stadium has a Pirate Ship.

Anyway… I also think the Seahawks throwback jerseys are much much better than the new ones. Even the grey ones but especially the highlighter green.

That being said, now we'll here omg you're just lucky we didnt make the playoffs cause the bears couldn't beat the packers.

just in case you guys didn't know.
Trash team.

they celebrating about being eliminated lol
Well, they nearly made it. The smoking imv was a little odd but it is up to them.
Yeah, seattle fans are by far and away the biggest offenders with the "us 12s" schtick.

There will be an article on any random team and you see some pnw dips**t commenting "go hawks!" For absolutely no reason.

or in general, it's like the "12s" have some contractual obligation to punctuate every post with "go hawks" even though Wilson is gone.
I think its pretty unfair that Seattle gets a BYE week like us.
Cucked out of the playoffs

Lol pls read it again
I definitely question the cigars, I think even on .NET someone posted it was most likely a case that they brought the cigars anticipating playoffs, there were no playoffs and looked for any excuse to light them including J Love's kid (because 3 weeks later seems highly as the kids call it today 'sus').

I also do suspect Prater was informally told to miss his final kick on purpose.
