I still don't truly understand how hawks fans can have hatred for the niners like they do. Unless they didn't watch much football before realignment. I can't imagine my team spending 25 years in the AFC, be shipped over to the NFC and then immediately claim a team in the new division as my "hated rival". I don't see the hawks declaring this hatred for the cardinals or rams (outside of a that window where McVay really blew them out for a while).
Just doesn't make any sense to me. Even at the time of Harbaugh's hiring... the teams hadn't even been in the same division for a full decade. Rivalries are built over time and with history. What was the genesis of this "rivalry" for seahawk fans?
It was all for clout. I used to live there, its a city of clout chasers that are always desperate to get attention from the rest of the country and gain clout. When it came to their football team, the best way to get clout was to antagonize the 49ers, one of the biggest brands in football, just so that they can claim to be the 49ers biggest rival. It worked, they got the attention they craved and it was good times for them…for a while. Now that they suck, everyone in the nation has their eyes on their suckage. Double edged sword that relevance became to them.
Their hate was always manufactured, just like their whole "12s" fanbase and their vulva shaped stadium that is designed to manufacture noise.
