He owns 9ers because of one game where they got a bunch of tipped balls?

Going from an elite front 7 to a mediocre at best front 7. Got his work cut out for himself.

Meh. It could go either way. I remember the excitement generated over the hiring of Mike Nolan as HC of the 49ers. A return to the Nolan days of coaching. A promised youth movement, starting with a young quarterback selected with the first pick in the NFL draft. Oh, by the way, Nolan's last stop before getting the 49ers gig? He had just came off of a stellar four-year run as DC of the Baltimore Ravens. Chew on that one for awhile.

Not only did Nolan fail, the 49ers had a revolving door at OC. This helped to stunt the development of Alex Smith by several years. Nolan's return quickly transformed into NoWin and the empty suit. The fortunes of the 49ers would not change until Harbaugh was brought in to put an end to six years of some of the worst 49er teams I've ever experienced.

This may be the fate awaiting the Seahawks. Paul Allen's sister was committed to selling the team, but that outlook has changed and she is now in firm control. This could spell some very bad news indeed.

I personally wanted Ben Johnson, but since he withdrew (kudos to him for being that loyal to a team to turn down a promotion). I think McDonald is a good hire, the Ravens defense were not the issue IMO in their loss to the Chiefs. That being said, the Seahawks still have personnel issues to handle, but I am intrigued with this hire and hope it will turn out for the best. The Niners own the NFC right now, so the DC for the defense that shut them down is a good place to try, it's not a guarantee but it's at least the right avenue to try vs Dan Quinn. I am very thankful MY Seahawks did not pick up Quinn. Will this coaching change work out? no guarantees, but I was done with more and more of the same with PC.

Ya that's a good hire for you guys.

Great pick up, and you guys have some pieces that he can make work better than the coaches before imo.

I also heard that Johnson was asking for a lot of money, 15 mil a year. Then when they said no, he acted like just wanted to stay with his current team
macdonald got a six year deal, remember when everyone lost their minds that kyle got a six year deal for a first time hc? lol

Demeco did the same thing. Not sure it's money. It's good to get a bit more experience first then take a money grab as a one or two year wonder and then you suck. Very smart move for his career. The money isn't going away for next time and a trip to NFCC again can only make his stock rise. And I am sure he got a handsome raise from the Lions. Not like he isn't a millionaire.

I'm glad this coach will bring an innovative defensive scheme into the division. I think the overall philosophy of MacDonald's defense could spread around the league. It's very active and aggressive in how it wants to rush the passer while also disguising its rush and coverage. Makes the QB think, and will help Brock/Kyle get exposed to a scheme I think might get popular. SEA has some good DBs and if they round out their front7, could be trouble.

Yes, I agree.

My ideal wish is for the 49ers to win the Super Bowl, then have Purdy constantly challenged as a QB next season to prep him to be the future star signal caller of this franchise.

I want his processing to be so damn good, that only a bad OL and bad luck or the most all time defense ever can stop him.

MacDonald in the division will help ensure that.
