I have nephews who just now saw their first chapter of 49ers/cowboys in the playoffs. With the great job done by CBS and all of the networks to hype up the matchup.. they now understand how big of a deal it is.

As a fan who watched many, many big games vs the Cowboys, Packers, and giants, I always scoffed at the notion that seattle was somehow on par with those teams in terms of rivalries.

The rivalries change over time. In the 90s sure the Cowboys was the rivalry, then it was the Pack. But in the Harbaugh days it was Seahawks and that thing was white hot. First it started at Stanford. Harbaugh coached Stanford to one of the greatest upsets in history. USC was favored by 41 and Stanford won outright making it the largest point spread upset in college football history. The famed "what's your deal" quote came after Stanford went to USC and won 55-21. So this was a pretty intense college rivalry that carried over to the NFL and the games were brutal, with Seattle often getting the better of it.

Now we are at a point where I see it shifting to the Rams. No real rivalry with the Cowboys. I mean is there a Mike McCarthy Shanahan rivalry? No. Meanwhile is there a McVay, Shanny rivalry, yes. There is also an obvious NorCal SoCal rivalry if you're into baseball and Giants Dodgers. If you want to say 49ers Cowboys in the day was the biggest rivalry I'll respect that but today's players are more juiced up for Rams than Boys or NY Giants imo.

Spot on. I hate the Cowboys from here to eternity, but the Seattle thing was huge and still is. Those guys in a lost season STILL get up to play the 49ers. In a generation, they will be talking about 49ers/Seattle from 2011-2014 as one of the great rivalries.

This. Please trade him

If they trade RW and manage to find a decent enough QB and use the remaining salary to get better pieces on defense. I could see the team not fairing as well against the Niners, BUT doing better overall getting back in the playoffs and perhaps getting deeper. It really feels like having a top 3 paid QB is NOT the way to go if you want real success in the NFL.

Ya definitely harder to put together a great all around team when the QB makes so much, but that's the recipe to long term success in the NFL, and you guys had that. I think the bigger issue was you guys wiffing on so many draft picks over the years.

Schneider has a lot to prove that he can even do that.

He was so dumb to take the DC position with Seattle instead of staying and learning with us. Serves his traitorous ass right.

The cowboys were a playoff rivalry, for around a decade it was us or them in the playoffs to advance. Their fans are the worst in all of pro sports. I still hate the cowboys more than anyone. Living in Seattle now these guys are pretty ridiculous as well but I think I hate the cowboys, packers and rams way more than Seattle. All the faces from that rivalry are gone except for Wilson. Harbaugh, Sherman, Crabtree, kap, Willis, bowman, chancellor, VD etc. these games with Kyle don't seem as intense as when Harbaugh was here. There was a palpable hate in the air when these teams played.

I forgot the background but looking at his history - he's been with coaching with Carroll for over 15 years at USC + the Seahawks save for one three year stint with the Raiders as their DC.
f**k the Seacocks
Dude why so angry? My team is sitting on the couch wondering how they're gonna not continue to be the bottom next year, meanwhile your team is one game way from the SB.

Not angry. But that doesn't take away that the Seattle Seahawks are a classless organization and by far an even worse fanbase who are also terrible human beings to boot who deserve every bit of misery that's coming their way. Hope your team leaves your city that same way the Sonics did. And Russell Wilson looks and acts like a serial killer.

Did your girl like leave you for a Seahawks fan or something? That's some deep rooted hatred. Like beyond healthy.

No, but went to a Seahawks/49ers TNF game in 2006 with parents and girlfriend at the time. long story short, I will NEVER step foot in that stadium or city ever again. And wouldn't encourage any fan to go there unless they enjoy attempts of getting spat on and garbage thrown at them. Just one of the many reason why I despise them

outside of the strippers I would have to concur with AJ.

those residents by and large are a*****es
I love everything about Washington. Wonderful place but of course I dislike the Seahawks
