What they should do:

Ease up on the pass interference calls on the defense.

Targeting penalties and other penalties should be abled to be challenged

Officials should be more relaxed when blowing the whistle to indicate the play is dead. Too many times they blow the whistle too fast

Do away with only dressing 46 players. All 53 roster spots should be abled to be used. If you don't have enough, teams can get their practice squad players if they want.

I agree that 46 active players is not enough. There still needs to be a set number of active / inactive players. Just in case of pre game injuries. Don't think I've ever heard of a team having 7 players injured in pre game lol. Should be more like 50 active 3 inactive.

Increase the roster size to 60

This would add 224 players to the league. That won't happen.

Yeah, I like the way it is. Keeps GM's busy.

Increase practice squad size then?

Spot the ball where the carrier falls. f**k Forward Progress: get rid of it and the attempt of guessing where the ball was.

If a ball carrier gets tackled backward, that's the offense's problem and a legit reward to the defense.

cost us a critical TD vs the NYG in the '11 NFCCG when Bow stripped the ball from their RB while he was still upright

True and it is too subjective. If the whistle blows because a ref thinks a carrier can get injured due to tacklers around his knees, then spot the ball the best you can when the whistle blew...not at the point of progress ends.

So now you guys want to get rid of all of the "judgment call" rules that allow the NFL to control the outcomes of games?

What about the Phantom holding calls? There is holding on every play!

It's a pipe dream but...Allow coaches to use challenge flags on crucial penalties. I hate when refs botch an important call and coaches can't do anything about it. Too many times it's not a hold, or a PI, or an illegal hit. Brooks' (legal) hit on Brees in the playoffs a few years ago comes to mind.

It wasn't a playoff game (late November road game IIRC), but that blown call cost the Niners a 1st round BYE and eventually home field advantage in the NFCCG vs seattle

Overtime periods have been reduced to 10 minutes, per Ian Rap.

I think it's just for the regular season?

At this rate, they should just flip a coin to see who wins.

I kind of blame it on Thursday night football. The league's probably worried that long OTs will further mess with the short week matchups they've created.

I know it won't ever happen because it would slow the game down, but give unlimited challenges. But if you lose, you also lose 10 yards.
In 2009 there was 46523 total plays and 3699 total penalties called, including playoffs. In 2016 there were 47684 total plays and 4166 total penalties called last year. Does anyone else think the penalty numbers are a little off?

I partially agree, you get 1 free challenge. After that, if you have a TO you can challenge. Inside of 2 mins they are automatically reviewed, if a team wants it challenged call a TO.

Wouldn't you like to have developmental QB's in the roster? This would allow each team to actually have guys learning how to play the position and not be rushed. If we could carry 4 QB's and not sacrifice another position it would be great.
I think that literally any flag can be challenged. Why are there some that can't be. Same two challenges, just more options to use them on. Offsides, hands to face, etc.
