The Rams have waited a long time to put their top pick in. Have they lost confidence in him? As far as Dak being the next big thing, I recall a SF QB that was being hailed as one of the next greats. We know how that turned out. See them through the good and the bad, then make a judgement.

I don't see Dak falling off. Both Kap and RG3 were running QBs that needed to run a option offense. Dak is a pocket passer with a strong, accurate arm.

Kaep wasn't unleashed as a running QB until that packer playoff game
Looking forward to seeing Goff in his first NFL foray.

He had a big game running against the Packers, broke records, but he still had almost 450 yards during the regular season while only playing 8 games.

he played in 13 games with 415 rush yrds. Kaep did run but it wasn't like how ran in the playoffs.

Dak doesn't need to run with that Beast OL and RB

Frank Gore, 4.7 yards per carry and 1,200 yards rushing in 2012. Kendall Hunter, 5.2 yards per carry and 371 yards rushing in 2012.

Its not like the 49ers were some ragged barebones outfit, they had one of the very best running attacks in football that year.

What Dak has done as a rookie is incredible by any measurement. He didn't have the benefit of sitting for a full year, he's just continued his ascendancy from his final year of college into the NFL and has really the hell out of key Cowboys veterans with his leadership and maturity.

He is having a heck of a year. I can put several QB's behind. Cowboys OLine and make them look retarded. So I give credit to the OLine and Dak.

They went from a team drafting in the top 5 last year to first place this year. Last year they still had a 1,000+ yard rusher but behind the same OL, all their QB's were garbage. As a 49ers fan it annoys me that the Cowboys have found what looks to be a long term franchise QB, as a fan of football overall, Prescott is one of the better things to happen to the NFL this year.

No doubt. They got a freekn awesome OLine with a 4 headed monster on Offense. Dak, Bryant, Elliot, Witten.
And when Bryant went down they didn't even skip a beat with the supporting cast! This hurts so bad being a 49er fan!!!

Kaep lost Hunter after two games, and gore never broke higher than 83 yards for the rest of the season and he only avg 55-60 yards a game

Kaep couldn't rely on the RBs that season

Is this real life? Someone is trying to say Kaepernick didn't have support in 2012 when he had one of the most talented teams in the league around him? Alex Smith looked just as good in 2012 due to our ridiculously good supporting cast - we had arguably the best offensive line in the league, an emerging #1 WR in Crabtree, a top TE in Davis, and a very good RB in Gore along with a top 5 defense which meant our QB did not need to force throws.

The 2016 Cowboys are a fair comparison (without the great defense). We won't really know how good Prescott is until he's forced to play without the best line in the league and one of the best RB's.

49ers RB's in Kaepernick's 7 starts in 2012:
Bears - 111 yards (Gore - 78)
Saints - 117 yards (Gore - 83)
Rams - 64 yards (Gore - 58)
Dolphins - 102 yards (Gore - 63)
Patriots - 121 yards (Gore - 83, not counting Goldson rushing for 31)
Seahawks - 51 yards (Gore - 28)
Cardinals - 126 yards (Gore - 68)

That's 66 yards per game for Gore and 99 yards per game for the RB position. It's over 100 rushing yards per game if you include Goldson's carry without counting any of Kaepernick's rushing yards. Most teams in the league would be happy with over 100 yards rushing per game excluding the QB position.

The only one saying that is you.

This was a comparison to what Elliot is doing on that Cowboys team

If I remember correctly, the 49ers were starting to sprinkle in the read option as early as the second Rams game, but Kap did most of his damage through the air as a drop back passer that year. It wasn't until the playoffs that the read option element became the 49ers base offense.

Yeah, all their quarterbacks sucked balls last season but I got to say watching the Cowboys this year, their offensive playcalling is so much more varied and creative. Guys are getting open early and often on just about every pass play and that is making things very easy for Dak. Last year, most of their plays took an eternity to develop - forcing the quarterback(s) to hold on to the football for too long and getting Romo killed twice in the process.
