I agree with you that Goff's overall college record may not be a fair point of assessment. However, that dude didn't beat a single ranked team. Not one. For all the hype that kid got and to go #1 overall -- you'd think that SOMEWHERE in his college days he would've shown something... ANYTHING. Also, his bowl win came against Air Force. Those dudes are a glorified rec team.

Again, it's not that Goff was a poor prospect. It's that he was a poor #1 overall prospect. If you're taking a kid to be your franchise QB you need to hold him to a higher standard. If Goff was drafted in the 4th round nobody would be calling him a bust. They'd be saying "yeah, his NFL performance so far sounds about right".

The thing with the other #1 overall QBs who panned out is that you at least saw a glimpse of things to come even if they had a s**tty year. Manning had a s**tty rookie year -- but everybody walked away knowing with certainty he was the guy.

We'll see with Goff. Time will tell. But it's not exactly an inspiring start.

I watched all his dropbacks yesterday and there were so many simplistic three step timing slants, and other short route concepts on his completions. He had 1, maybe 2, good plays where he was able to escape the pocket and improvise for good completions. Obviously still early in his career, but I liked what I saw because I was not impressed at all. I don't hate the guy, just hope he does bust so it's easier on the 49ers.
Better than Alice Smith's first game dude had like 4 ints.

It was good for a Niners fan, that's for sure.

Actually I hope he doesn't completely bust. I hope he has a Stafford/Cutler type of career where he is just good enough to earn a mega deal, but ends up doing nothing of significance and the Rams waste nearly a decade figuring this out. If he completely busts then the Rams would quickly figure it out and move on from him.

That's a whole lot of 7-9 seasons coming up. There's something to be said for consistency.

Haha... That's how I feel! SET THEM BACK.
So very happy we didn't pick him in the draft.

So glad I'm not the GM. I would've picked him. Lol

So many people here wanted to give up the world for him. I would love to go back and read the posts. Poor guy would have to go into the witness protection program if we drafted him. I wanted no parts of trading up to get him.

His post game interview was hard to watch. Lol
Rams WRs had the lowest amount of separation for any team Sunday

Keep the Goff failure in mind when we go through the draft hype this offseason. Nobody is worth trading away 2 drafts for. All QBs are more likely to be busts than successes.

Seriously? He's ALREADY a bust?

I liked Goff (not as much as I liked Connor Cook), but even I wouldn't have started him until year 2 at the soonest.
