Rams will be lucky if goff is better than chad pennington.

Penninton was great until he destroyed his shoulder. He was brittle & noodle-armed after a few seasons.

People are showing why most NFL fans shouldn't bother evaluating QBs. Projecting Goff's career based on a rookie season where every informed person knows he isn't ready to be good yet is ridiculous.

And the fact that this is news to you shows you weren't paying attention during the draft process. Everyone who was paying attention knew Goff was sushi. I wouldn't have even put him on the field until 2017.

1st overall picks needs to play like the first overall picks.

plus, the whole meaning of Bust is where you were picked and did you live up to the hype. This thread wouldn't have been created if he was picked in the 4th round

Exactly!

Goff is a draft bust based on draft status. Who cares if he develops into the next Alex Smith or Chad Pennington? Still a bust.

I'm sure he will improve. But to what? Blaine Gabbert?

A little better than Gabbert...I was more of a Brad Johnson.

i don't think this thread would have been created unless we were not in any position to draft him

This board doesn't give a s**t about the other players who havent developed over the years, unless we had a chance/were in a possible position to draft them

You're right' they do. 2 or 3 years after they're drafted. 1st overall picks typically play poorly as rookies. See Peyton Manning.

they dont

but they spend 2-3 years building a team (I.E. o-line), before sending a rookie out there to save the franchise

after drafting your rookie, that line could have been lost to FA or other skill positions could be gone.

This is not the old NFL where players stay long term and windows can close fast

Look at our window, that s**t shut down fast when we all thought we had the chance to build something great

And teams who try the "win-now" strategy consistently suck. See the Redskins.

You don't draft a QB #1 overall to win right away. That's literally never happened.

Yeah but that qb that can win, shows he can play and not need years to start learning how to play qb

Oh man, no way. No way can anybody make a Peyton Manning analogy to Jared Goff.

For those of us who actually saw Peyton Manning's rookie season and not just his stat line: Everybody in the world walked away from that season knowing Manning was going to be a franchise QB. While, of course, he made rookie mistakes... Manning was making consistent big time throws and was commanding the offense at the end of the season.

If ANYBODY from this past draft class should get compared to Peyton Manning it would be Wentz. It's still not a good compare, but better than one involving Jared Goff.

Nobody is railing on Wentz for being a bust because he has shown time and time again that he can make plays at this level. There is -- literally -- zero evidence that Jared Goff can play at this level. He has piss poor accuracy. His poise boarders on cowardly. He isn't a leader. And he makes absolutely terrible decisions.

Not once. Not just a few times. All the time.

There is absolutely nothing a rational person can point to in Jared Goff's season that even remotely looks like the makings of a franchise QB. There is not a sane person in this world who can leave the 2016 season saying "Well, the Rams got their guy...".
