Lots of people on this forum are going to look very silly by next year calling Goff's career and predicting Trubisky to be a bust. Both will be great QBs.
Your hoping for people to look silly while those guys still have yet to prove anything
*You're
And hence the words, "going to." It's called a prediction. I'm not hoping for anything; I'm just saying what's likely going to happen.
Any a**hole can come along & say they're great after they've already proven it.
Hope and and some prayer for that prediction. But I guess they can have a career as backups and not still be considered busts. So you have that working for ya
I'm pretty sure career backups selected in the top 3 rounds will be considered busts. FWIW, I think Fisher was stupid and desperate, and he should have followed the plan and kept Goff on the shelf for the whole season. Even the guys who loved Goff coming out (I was definitely one of them) generally suggested he should sit a year or two, until he had an NFL offense down well enough to execute at game speed. I think he'll improve under McVay, and he'll be a top 10 guy in a few years. I really like his ability to maintain accuracy and timing behind a crap line. That's tough for NFL QBs. I could be wrong; it's happened before.
I was a big Mahomes guy, partially b/c Trubisky's limited game time worried me. He has impressive tools, but I'm not confident that he'll have that counterpunch for DCs who develop a book on him and scheme to take away his strengths and comforts. We'll see.
There's a lot of time left for both guys, before their teams need to consider moving on.
Very unlikely that high number 1 picks get to sit and learn now days. i wasn't big on Goff or Wentz. Fisher is not stupid, but there is no way you can let an asset sit when QB play was needed badly and the number 1 pick overall should be serviceable and not be a project.
i liked McVay, but i don't see him being at that level yet. plus i just see him piggy backing off Gruden's playbook. There is a long time and ways to go but no way these guys are top 10 guys. future Journeymen most likely
This years QBs look and are performing head and shoulders above the recent past classes.
I consider career back ups as bust too, but i know NS will try to save face because that would mean they are still in the league.
