Lots of people on this forum are going to look very silly by next year calling Goff's career and predicting Trubisky to be a bust. Both will be great QBs.

Your hoping for people to look silly while those guys still have yet to prove anything

And hence the words, "going to." It's called a prediction. I'm not hoping for anything; I'm just saying what's likely going to happen.

Any a**hole can come along & say they're great after they've already proven it.

Hope and and some prayer for that prediction. But I guess they can have a career as backups and not still be considered busts. So you have that working for ya

I'm pretty sure career backups selected in the top 3 rounds will be considered busts. FWIW, I think Fisher was stupid and desperate, and he should have followed the plan and kept Goff on the shelf for the whole season. Even the guys who loved Goff coming out (I was definitely one of them) generally suggested he should sit a year or two, until he had an NFL offense down well enough to execute at game speed. I think he'll improve under McVay, and he'll be a top 10 guy in a few years. I really like his ability to maintain accuracy and timing behind a crap line. That's tough for NFL QBs. I could be wrong; it's happened before.

I was a big Mahomes guy, partially b/c Trubisky's limited game time worried me. He has impressive tools, but I'm not confident that he'll have that counterpunch for DCs who develop a book on him and scheme to take away his strengths and comforts. We'll see.

There's a lot of time left for both guys, before their teams need to consider moving on.

I am not sure I agree with this. Maybe our definition of bust is not the same. Usually there is only a handful of 'sure things' in each draft, and even some of those bust out. I would say maybe the 1st round, perhaps even the first half of that round. It is usually a crap shoot from there. Unless you steal Reuben Foster at the end of the 1st that is

Very unlikely that high number 1 picks get to sit and learn now days. i wasn't big on Goff or Wentz. Fisher is not stupid, but there is no way you can let an asset sit when QB play was needed badly and the number 1 pick overall should be serviceable and not be a project.

i liked McVay, but i don't see him being at that level yet. plus i just see him piggy backing off Gruden's playbook. There is a long time and ways to go but no way these guys are top 10 guys. future Journeymen most likely

This years QBs look and are performing head and shoulders above the recent past classes.

I consider career back ups as bust too, but i know NS will try to save face because that would mean they are still in the league.

False, NS is allergic to mediocrity.

It's true. The itching & burning 16 out of the last 20 years has been unbearable.
Man they gave up alot for this guy .

Nobody except Bellicheck and Brady are worth that much.
Did not look good from what I saw of him tonight. Couple of wobblers and a few easy throws that were just off. I didn't see every throw, and haven't seen him much this preseason.

Trading a lot for a potential franchise QB is worth the risk tbh. Either u try to get one and he busts and therefore your still not good or you don't risk it and your still not good.
That INT saids it all about Goff right now. After the play action the receiver was wide open. Overthrown badly into an open DB A rusher came free at him just before he was ready to throw. He looked like he didn't want to get hit, and over threw the ball.

That is EXACTLY what you should do in the preseason. No completion is worth a hit in the preseason.

He looked scared.
