Why do I continue to call him a bust? Because the best he'll ever be is "a guy", not "the guy". Relative to his draft spot -- that nowhere near lives up to what is required of that slot. He's just a guy. Not a single team in the NFL cares that they're playing Jared Goff the next week. Not one. They care about playing Todd Gurley and Sean McVay.

Everything has to be right for him to make his high quality throws. He doesn't have the feet to dominate. Sean McVay has babysat him all year (he literally tells him what to do at the line until the headset is cut).

Again -- nobody cares about facing Jared Goff. He's just another QB. And for that reason he does not live up to his draft selection. He's a great 2nd round value. A poor #1 overall value.

Gonna come down to if they win any titles or not. A lot of what u posted could fit troy aikman like a glove. But nobody considers that former 1st pick a bust.

I don't agree. Aikman made other players better. Jared Goff needs lots of help to do well. Sure -- could he develop that ability? I guess. But you can say that about any young QB. Jared Goff isn't a difference maker at this point. Just another QB in the league.

Aikman played with statistically the best rb of all time and one of the most dominant olines of all time. For u to completely ignore that and just say he made other players better is laughable. His career high in tds was 23. 165 tds and 141 picks with all that talent.

What am I supposed to do? Write a novel? You don't need to defend Goff. Come back when he is more than a just okay NFL QB. So far he has not lived up to his draft spot. How can anyone argue against that?

He just went for 28tds and 7ints in his 2nd season and u in here calling him a bust come back when your "hes a bust" narrative is a little more appropriate. Whats ur bias anyways? That hes a div rival qb? U dont root for cal? Self proclaimed draft junky who has to stick to ur pre draft evaluation? Its gotta be something cus the guy had a good year, much better than anyone expected off of his rookie year. Just tip your cap to him, move on and maybe resurface with the bust talk if and when it actually fits.

It fits. So I'm here. Nobody cares about facing Jared "just give him some time" Goff.
and this is why most other fans laugh at the 49er fan base.
Calling Goff a bust is pretty dumb. It's year 2 and he's done well.

Although Gurley is the best player on offense, it doesn't mean Goff therefore can't be good

People on here want him to be a bust because he comes from an air raid and so if he does well, their grand proclamation that air raid is fatal to a qb is wrong

Why don't the mods edit the title.

Because it's still arguable. I don't think he's a BUST at all, but it still can be argued.....I guess.

just like you can argue that the earth is flat. makes sense i guess.

I guess crazy assessments aren't limited to 49ers players.

It's a message board, we can't just edit threads cause posters disagree with it. We really don't need titles to find out the conclusion to the argument do we?

Title was edited....moving on.

It wasn't a shot at you or any other mod. Just that we jump to fast conclusions here no matter what team the player plays for.
The kid has sweet touch on his long ball. No zip at all but damn does he float things in there at times

I didn't take it as a shot to the Mods, and I agree with you, but we can't go editing threads because we feel like it or for no apparent reason.
Eerie stat of the day

P. Manning in his second year 62.1 comp rate
T. Brady in his second year 62.1 comp rate

Dude's arm is not average at all.

and he's constantly improving. he'll be a top qb within a few years.

Jimmy vs Jared will be like Tom vs Peyton in a few years. It's going to be an interesting next decade.
