Wish Shanahan and Lynch could have created some of that context here.

Wish Shanahan and Lynch had the luxury of taking over a roster that had been rebuilding since like 2010.

True, the 49ers are only in year 5 of rebuilding.

Shanahan and Lynch been here 5 years? wow, time does fly.

Yeah because that's what he said.

Generslly, I think it is fair to mark to start of a rebuild at the time when there is a clear out of coaches and front office. So yes, in effect it was what he said. Problem with that?

So the Rams rebuild started when McVay and his staff came in rather than 2010 as asserted in the comment I responded to?
I am just trying to compare apples to apples here.

The "timelines for rebuilds" change for some on here to fit their narratives for our team vs other teams.
Technically, it doesn't matter because, We still have a ton of holes in this roster that we had 2 years ago, 3 years ago, hell, even longer.

Our front office, who preaches building thru the draft, has us with 5 draft picks this year.. impressive.

The 49ers have been rebuilding since 2017. When you blow up 90% of your roster, that is what you call a rebuild.

The Rams went through a similar process in 2010 and hired their current GM in 2012.

Its pretty illogical to try to argue as if the two teams had similar starting points in 2017. The Rams had been building their roster for years while the hiring of Shanahan and Lynch marked the advent of one for the 49ers.

Huh? The rebuild started after harbs last year 2015. The last year we didnt have a losing record. We pissed off fangio then gave up the most rushing yards in the history of the universe. That was years one and two of the rebuild.

The 49ers have been rebuilding since Harbaugh left. That is a fact. Are they getting better at it? I am not sure yet.

Just because Harbaugh left doesn't mean they started rebuilding the roster anymore than they did when they first hired him. They still retained the same GM and the vast majority of the same roster. It wasn't until Lynch and Shanahan showed up that everything got blown up and they started basically from scratch.

Having a losing record doesn't mean you're rebuilding. The 49ers retained a lot of their same roster from 2014, not to mention the same general manager.

It wasn't until Shanalynch that they blew it all up, the roster, the entire front office and started from scratch.

The 49ers started the rebuild when they ditched Harbaugh. The same EVP is in charge of Football Operations as was in charge of Football Operations in 2014. He hired the three head coaches during the rebuild and he hired Lynch as the GM but it is his operation.

Losing Gore, Willis, Justin Smith, Aldon Smith, Iupati...That is more talent lost in 2014 than in any year since. They retained everyone except 5 All Pros?

That's not the same rebuild. No team changes GMs and considers that a continuous rebuild. If you want to make the general statement this team has been rebuilding since 2015, go ahead. But the current people in charge have nothing to do with what happened in 2015 and 2016.

One rebuiuld,, three rebuilds, two rebuilds...whatever. They have been rebuilding since 2014.

Did the Rams start a new rebuild when they got a whole new coaching staff?

The person who is currently running Football Operations is the same person running Football Operations in 2014, he hired the coaches along the way and the new GM. I am pretty happy with Paraag's direction for the team, not sold on Lynch though.
I picked Rams to lose (and i'm a Rams fan lol). Goff will be gone before the new stadium but the Rams will be in more super bowls before 2030.
I doubt i'll be interested much by then lol

You can repeat that all you like, you're still wrong each time. The 49ers dumping Harbaugh didn't suddenly make them a rebuilding team. They held on to the GM, 99% of the front office and most of the roster. That isn't a rebuild.

They were pretty specific about the plan being to make a playoff run with Tomsula as HC. You can call that delusional but its clear what their intent was.

A rebuild is like when Nolan came in, cleaning out the front office, starting over with an almost entirely new roster. Or with Lynch and Shanahan who have replaced over 90% of the roster in two years and completely blew up the front office.

The fact that lynch and shanny have replaced almost all of the roster from they came in should tell anyone this is a new rebuild. Not a continuation. For doing that, they're doing a solid job so far. Especially with later picks in the draft. Wish Solomon Thomas improves at dt and stays there

They lost more talent the year Harbaugh left than in any year since and they were definitely rebuilding. Nobody with any sense thought the 49ers were going on a playoff run with Tomsula, he was brought in as a "teacher" to bring along all the new 49ers. The front office was obviously lying to the fans.

Lynch and Shanahan were hired by the head of Football Operations, the same head of Football Operations who has been running the front office for a long time.

This may be a new rebuild but the 49ers were rebuilding in 2016 and 2017 as well.

Baalke: this isn't a rebuild, it's a reload.

Not sure why this is even something someone would argue
