Bullet Point 1:
To a certain degree, I have to agree with this statement ... probably for different reasons though.
From my POV, most of the Attitude, Identity, and Swagger -- the team once had -- either retired,
joined another another team (via FA), is rehabbing, or is coaching in another city.
I believe our Coach and GM, are more than aware or this ... have a plan in place, and will continue
the Process-in-Progress -- which I feel was initiated upon their hires -- while they continue in this vein
later this month via the draft ... and in future drafts beyond.
Bullet Point 2:
Not to Highjack the Thread ... but seeing as you mentioned:
- soft
- classy
- we were (meaning the 49er Defense ???)
- and Deion Sanders, in the same sentence ... I couldn't help myself
I remember a certain level of decorum, before Deion arrived ... but I also remember:
each and every season, especially seasons the SB was won, before his arrival as well. The `Eddie D´, Camelot
Niners, will always be remembered for the WCO, and their Mastery of it. However to state that we were SOFT before
Deion' arrival is false IMO.
The Defense(s) under Seifert -- and those that followed him as DC -- were far from soft. Deion, was `The Missing Link´ ...
but to suggest he made our "D" other than soft (or HARD), is foolish thinking. I'll give him credit for the skill-set he brought
to the team ... but I don't think it was a physical presence, or toughness that arrived with him, from The ATL.
As it played out (historically), Deion was a Merc; a one year rental, who helped the franchise win it's 5th Lombardi. In reality,
several players from the 1994-1995 roster, were in the same (aforementioned) category as Sanders ... players chasing that
ring. There's a REASON he signed with San Francisco, and no where else ... the
team was poised to win !
Beside being good at what he did;
shutting down one side of the field, which he did very well ... I also remember a player who
always made sure to self-promote (which was not the 49er way) ... as if his play on the field wasn't speaking LOUD Enough !!!
For the record, I hated him (Football Hate ... not Real Hate), before he arrived; loved his play (before/during his time in SF) and
learned to accept his Showboating Ways, while he wore the Uni. I also went back to Hatin' again, after he left 'da SFC.
Sherman, is Not That Player !!!
He is not That Guy ... the one you tell
"Sherm, cover their best receiver ... shadow him all day, tighter than a Crabs A-hole water
proof ... I don't want him movin' the chains, I don't wanna' see any Big Play, and I damn sure don't want to see him in the End Zone".
He only covers one side of the field ... and is not always manned on the opponents best WO !
TBH, I don't see SEA trading him within the division ... and our FO making that trade (if possible):
- weakens the Niners rebuild
- aides in SEA' re-tooling
- helps them contract wise
- we potentially lose a draft pick(s)
Maybe, there is a reason -- beyond his mouth -- why people wouldn't want Richard Sherman (the 2016 version),
on the team for the upcoming season and beyond.
