Still think we go after Butler too
Sherman a great leader for @49ers program. Tone setter thru practice habits, toughness. Contract appears low-risk for team.

What's not to like...
Maybe giving up touchdowns, pi calls or maybe never recovering from his recent injuries

1 INT last year. No FFs, .5 of a sack and he took out as many of our own guys as he did ball carriers. Reid was not only better but he provided a leadership presence and was involved in all of our wins.
"Involved in all our wins" is slippery and I seriously question if you actually believe what you're trying to suggest with it.
With you I'm in the small camp that thinks fans overrate Tartt, but no need to guild the lily on it, IMO.
Just saw an article where he was top 5 graded 49ers last year. Just saying

Aren't the first two risks with every defensive player?
The last one is my biggest concern, but all the team can do is count on what the doctors tell them. If they gave him a passing grade, and he fails to get back to whatever percentage they told the team he would, you get new doctors and hope they can be more accurate with their assessments.

When I see $5M signing bonus and the wording "up to" $39M, I think essentially a 1-year commitment from the team. Agree?

The best part of the contract he'll sign is only $5M is guaranteed...stellar work, Paraag! Beyond that, he'll bring much-needed experience to the secondary and be Witherspoon's mentor. There's a new leader on our defense and his name is Richard Sherman! Lynch was like a snake in the grass...the Rams were wheelin' & dealin' and when JL got his chance he made the most of it. I read experts are saying after Cousins, this is by far the next biggest FA signing.

Yup. Bleacher report ranking had him a #3 SS. Reid #10. Think about it this way. Tartt was the second best player on D before he got hurt, behind defo. Reid was probably 5th best on D, behind defo, Foster, Colbert, spoon. Defense simply got better overall.
