Seems the perfect way to handle a personality like Sherman. Throw the challenge at him and his self-belief, competitive nature and ego won't be able to refuse.

I unfortunately read Grant Cohn's knee-jerk article on the Sherman signing. Why does Grant CON think he knows anything about sports or athleticism for that manner??

Don't know why they give him a 5 million signing bonus though? I know they can spread it out over the 3 year deal, but if he stinks after year 1, no point in taking 3.3 million in dead money, when we could have just given him 7 million in year 1 guaranteed for base salary, instead of the 2 million guaranteed + 5 million signing bonus. Just nit picking here a little, but I like the Raiders philosophy of just guaranteeing that years salary, compared to a signing bonus, this way if things don't work out, they never have dead money hurting them in later years.

I am always for front loading deals on young guys, so that as their salary goes down each year, it is basically creating cap space, while still keeping that player, opposed to the other way around. With all this cap space we have, we should be signing which ever FA's we go for to front loaded deals, so we don't run into cap problems going forward.
