Some people question the five million signing bonus. I think that was added to the deal so they wouldn't have to worry about what's going to happen Monday.

On another note I truly believe he instantly becomes the leader of the defense. No player in that locker room can say they have produced more in the NFL that plays on defense
It'll be legend to have Butler and Sherman in the same secondary.
If the numbers are right, and none of the incentives count this year, his cap number is $4,791,666 for 2018, and then $11,666,666 in 2019 and $11,666,668 for 2020, this depends on if the reported $16M in base salaries for 2019-2020 are evenly $8M a year. There also may be workout bonuses in there, nothing confirmed yet.

In all honesty, we should of drafted his ass in the first place. Everyone thought he was a shoe in to SF. Sherman himself thought Harbaugh would draft him. He should still have a lot left.
Hope he performs

If Tart and Colbert can be another Chancellor.....we should see the same ole Sherman.

Colbert will be our Earl Thomas.

That's a good shout. I also think we could cut Ward and maybe draft Derwin James to play the Chancellor type role.

We have bigger holes than Safety to fill with #9 overall.

We do but James might be a can't miss talent similar to Jalen Ramsey. Only other picks I could see are Nelson or Edmunds but I can see us possibly trading back.

Nelson is way bigger of a can't miss talent than James. Tarrt was ranked the 3rd best niner. Colbert was a shock. You try to always draft best player available. But at the same time if there's zero needed that position you skip over it. It's like if we had the David Johnson why would we draft Barkley? I know it's a little extreme but it should make sense

Trade Sherman and the 9th pick to Cleveland for the first pick.
He's still a Dick lol
Sherman doesn't get his money unless he makes the pro bowl. Nice

I doubt we spend on another CB now. We have too many other needs. K'Waun was locked up mid season, and Ahkello is ready to start and get better. We should spend the rest on offensive guys to help Garoppolo. A big time WR and a G.

Just to slow the progress of spoon?
Kind of would have liked to have given him a 1 year deal with 7 million guaranteed, and up to 4 million in incentives to get him back to what he could have made this year in Seattle. This deal is good for us though, because if he plays really good for us, then we can see what we do about the rest of his contract? 16 million in 2019 is kind of high, especially when he will be 31. I guess take it year by year with him, but having him to mentor Witherspoon and guys like Tartt and Colbert along with who ever we draft could pay huge dividends going forward.

I'm under the belief he will make the Pro Bowl. If Stanford cleared him I'm pretty sure he's going to be okay. He's got a chip on his shoulder. And he knows this defense more than any player on this team

Both are professionals. They will be fine. Probably be BFFs if (when ) the wins start to roll in.

This is a 1 year deal, folks.

Only becomes a real 3 year deal if he is an All-Pro. Which, if that is true, we would all happily pay him $16m/year.
