Just wondering how this helps us on the playing field. It takes more than a year to come back from an achilles. So i dont see him as a three down player or maybe even every game player.

The numbers are reasonable when you break them down for this year. Its a smart deal for both parties actually. But i think we are still looking for an impact player at that position.

Let him heal as much as he can, no need to rush him, but if hes cleared and ready to go, then let the quest for six continue!
Ready for training camp and performing at a high level are two different things. I dont really care about anything in the past if this guy helps us. I I'm not sure what he'll do for us this year but he might provide some good 1st or 2nd down coverage around week 8. I'm okay with it we haven't broken the bank on this yet that comes next year and the year after.

Maybe. I would think we still might be in the market for a second FA CB, but who that target is is anyone's guess. I think they will want to hedge their bets a bit in case it takes Sherman a bit to get fully healthy.

Butler might be a bit rich though for that role. But depends what they want to spend.

Be thinking we would want to match to what the Rams are doing in the secondary.

The Rams arent matching us, theyre matching the Eagles

we were told that malcom smith was signed in part to be a good coach. well even if sherman is not full bore coming training camp,. he will be the best coach. maybe better than our secondary coach the guys can have in my opinion

you can quibble on how they did it as compared to us. but the bottom line they improved thier secondary. we had to anyway. a first round pick on the ohio state guy or the fading johnson from iowa would have been a helluva risk. we accomplished all we needed to. we can still sign a cheap decent vet and or find a nice rookie on day three but it is no longer at the top of our bucket list
He will help jimmy G as well in practice
1-2's will purposely vote him into Pro Bowl so Niners have to pay him lol
I always HATED Sherman. His antics on the field were downright infuriating. However over time I've realized that it's mostly a character. He seems to be very well spoken and respectful once he takes the cleats off. Seems like a great teammate. Very smart and knows football. I'm excited to see what he can do for us.

Its All Pro....not Pro Bowl which is the trigger.
Looks like the Talib to SF was agreed upon but Talib didn't want to come to SF. So we get Sherman.

I like Sherman better and we didn't have to give up a draft pick to get him. The wild card is the achilles injury. I'm optimistic though because it will be over 9 months since the surgery when we play meaningful football the second weekend in September.
Still need help at CB. We'd be foolish to assume we're getting the old Dick. I'd still go after another one of the better CB FAs. The more competition at that position the better. If we can't bring pressure, we damn sure better cover
If that is true about Talib, he'll be in for a rude awakening with the Rams. Their defense is suspect expect for Donald. He may get toasted a lot.
