"This is how much Richard studied this," Marathe said. "We had a clause in a bunch of our contracts saying players got an incentive for making the Pro Bowl, even if they were medically excused from playing in the Pro Bowl. Richard said, 'What if I'm voted to the Pro Bowl and I can't go because we're in the Super Bowl?' We thought, He's right. Great observation. We changed the wording."

I like how this guy thinks.

Great read thanks! I'm even more pumped about it now

King's writeups for the Niners have been great lately. Started when he was invited to the Niners draft day and has been great reads since.
"The only guaranteed portion of Richard Sherman's three-year, $39 million contract is his $3 million signing bonus.

Sherman has been representing himself, so this contract is sure to be criticized by the agent community. So if Sherman doesn't recover smoothly from his Achilles' surgeries, the 49ers could conceivably release him before the season and be on the hook for only $3 million. Sherman also agreed to turn $6 million of his total potential earnings into per-game roster bonuses, paid only if Sherman is on the active, game-day roster. It's an incredibly team-friendly deal."

Paraag is a legend. It probably wasn't even fair for a player to go in trying to represent himself and talk deal with him. Sherman is a smart dude, but he has little to no experience negotiating a deal like this.

Great read. I hope King keeps these insider connections with the Lynch regime going into the future. Amazing content.

As a former media man himself, Lynch obviously knows how useful these kind of connections can be. The guy is a boss!

Seriously, Paraag is the best with these deals. Thank goodness he's butt buddies with Jed or else he'd be scooped up somewhere else
Signing Sherman just highlights how important it was to get Jimmy G signed up early before free agency. Now we have faces of the Franchise on both sides of the ball, huge for attracting more talent in this week.

yeeeaahh booooi
A lot of the hats Lynch has previously worn have come in handy as G.M.! Dude is smart but not soulless or a pushover either. Everyone can relate to him. He even has a jersey in the baseball hall of fame!

What a difference from TB

Love this part lmao!

Sherman smiled. "I've been at the 1-yard line before," he said, "and it didn't go so well."

Lynch said: "I promise you, we won't throw it this time."

Lynch is a savage. "Some deals sting the player"

Sherman is gonna be the poster boy of why agents are needed.
Man reading the terms of the contract, I love the move and makes total sense now. I'm all in! I think is going to work out very well for both sides.

he will be a great coach to the secondary. a great vet leader. hope he will kick foster in the ass. i know he has to prove he is healthy but the intimidation factor he brings to the table is huge. i think the team will also sign a vet linebacker. i think lynch saw that along with everything else. the team or defense lacked veteran leadership. bowman was let go for whatever reason but even if you never get him to admit it. i think he realized he needs some quality vets to go with the kids. just cc speculation

Here's his contract
