What I find extremely interesting about this deal is here is a guy who's essentially saying, "Don't give me millions of dollars just for showing up, I want to earn my money. I want to be compensated more when I perform well. I should be compensated less when I don't perform as well." Could he have gotten more guaranteed money elsewhere? Probably. But it's a nice thing to see in this day in age where a player isn't taking a bunch of guaranteed money just because he can get it. I hope Sherman is motivated in the same manner he was in 2011 when Harbaugh passed on him coming out of Stanford. If he's fully healthy, the league better look out.
