"I think it was kind of philosophical on his part," Sherman said of Carroll, a former USC coach, on a podcast hosted by former Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas and retired receiver Andrew Hawkins. "A lot of us have been there six, seven, eight years, and his philosophy is more built for college. Four years, guys rotate in, rotate out, and so we had kind of heard all his stories, we had kind of heard every story, every funny anecdote that he had. And honestly because he just recycles them. And they're cool stories, they're great for team chemistry and building, etcetera, etcetera. But we had literally heard them all. We could recite them before he even started to say them."
Grandpa Carroll and the Hawks are Done....
Wait, so he was talking to Thomas on this podcast right after he just threw shade at RS for negotiating his own contract. Umm...Kay.
"Sherman, not surprisingly, didn't agree with Thomas' assessment, responding with a tweet of his own that said, "It's actually a case of believing in who I am as a player while also coming of a major injury. But I appreciate ya input". From there, former Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins jumped in to take sides with Sherman, and to invite Sherman to appear on his and Thomas' podcast, The Thomahawk Show.
Sherman accepted the invitation and appeared on their show on March 15. He defended his contract, as he's been doing off and on since signing the deal, by saying the deal protects the 49ers in case he can't perform after coming off two Achilles surgeries while also giving him the ability to earn substantial bonuses if he gets selected to the 2018 Pro Bowl or All-Pro teams."
