And as many have stated, his effect on the rest of the defense in the film room will make all of them play better together.

If we're ahead and playing defense, I'd play him at safety in a dime package (Ward goes to corner). If Cassius and Attauchu and draft pick can bring the heat, I think his smarts and anticipation can get us some turnovers.

I like draft pick too! I think he has a great future with us!

Of all the players suffering that injury 36% never play again. Those who do return to play come back an average of 11 months later. Good article-

That's a very good point that many people overlook when they remember the injuries he has. Sherman is one of the smartest QB's in the NFL and one of the most confident if not thee most confident. He knows he's not the fastest or quickest CB, hence the reason he tested so poorly at the Combine, but he always knows how to put himself into position to make game changing plays that use to piss me off!!! And that's just something you have to appreciate in a football player that Richard Sherman is. It's the same reason I use to hate on Kurt Warner, he didn't have the strongest arm or cat like reflexes of a Mike Vick, but what he did have was football IQ and accuracy and I couldn't hate on that part of him.....but I did wanna punch him in the face when he use to light up my 9ers!!

Anyway, I hope Richard Sherman has a very successful career as a San Francisco 49er and if you are a TRUE fan, you would hope for the same!!!!

Which is why he got next to nothing in guaranteed money
There's been 3 players who play for the NRL club I support (Brisbane Broncos) that have suffered torn Achilles', one of which was late in his career, his 13th season in top grade and at age 29. All 3 came back to play not only NRL club football, but representative football at state and international level. It's defintely possible to make a full recovery from Achilles injuries and play at pre-injury levels.

The oldest has since retired but the other two are still playing for club, state and international.

I would imagine Sherman is getting a lot of help from not only the Niners, but the docs at Stanford medical.

Most of that data on NFL players not returning after Achilles surgery seems to be older. Sherman had the newer, minimally invasive technique, performed by Dr. Robert Anderson. Having just ruptured mine 5 weeks ago, I did a lot of research on this and made sure I found a surgeon who performed this same technique. The healing time and recovery is much quicker than the older, "open" technique. Hell I was full weight bearing and walking around in a boot 3 weeks post-op. And I'm 43 lol.

Here's also a link to an article where Sherman describes the surgery he had:

Great post Furlow, and a speedy recovery to you.

Thanks, bro.

Now I'm up reading about this doctor, and it looks like he did Sidney Jones' Achilles, and I think Crabtree's too (can't confirm yet though). Crabtree was playing 6 months post-op!

Edit: Add Terrell Suggs to that list.

Great info I'm even more confident now
That's awesome. If Achilles was alive today he could have been saved. On the other hand, why couldn't Achilles mother have switched hands when he was dipped in the river Styx as an infant. I'd have double dipped that damn baby so he would have been truly invincible.

Good insight!
Crabtree and Suggs are two guys that come to mind that came back successfully from Achilles injuries
He would be the goat if during the presser, he takes a Seahawks hat and lights it on fire.
