Hes probably good

O.k., didn't see this. Thanks for sending. Sounds like he could maybe play as soon as he's ready/in game shape.

What is your definition of "game shape?"

I am rarely right on these matters. I'll be the first to admit that. But, it's my opinion that if the 49ers were interested in Sherm, he would be on the roster already. As of yesterday. Or at some point during preseason. Or during training camp.

He wasn't. There's a reason he wasn't. I am not sure what that reason is. I do know he's 33-years old, which is rather old to be a CB in the NFL. I also know that injuries kept him off the field last season. Are those the reasons why he's not with the team right now? Or will not be? I don't know.

I just don't see it though. I think the 49ers will want to pull from the same playbook the San Francisco Giants have used all season, and with great success. When one player goes down with injury, it's a "next man up" mentality. The 49ers have cornerbacks on the roster and practic squads. They just aren't household names. Yet.

If the 49ers are going to contend for a playoff spot this season, they will need several young players to step up and make immediate contributions. This includes the position of cornerback.
The signing of Fitzpatrick makes it highly unlikely Sherman is in the 49er future.

I think this is about as good as they can do at this point. He's experienced and is a little younger than Sherman. If nobody else has signed Sherman at theis point there has to be a reason. They either think he's done, which he is or he wants too much money for a guy his age. Kirkpatrick and Norman will have to do for now.

yep, he's lost speed and we could use him more in a coaching role at this point...

I don't think this is true. Particularly if Thomas does not start to put it together.
I think Sherman will be back at some point during this season

Sherman might work as a safety but we don't need one of them. He is too slow now for CB but I would love him to get into coaching in defense as an assistant CB of secondary coach. Maybe they are waiting to see the DV court result. It does seem a minor incident where he was having a silly tantrum. No one got hit.

Starting to feel bad for Sherm. Reading the latest article is sounds like he still thinks he's a premium player with a strong resume as if age and physical ability don't apply to his position. Not saying he can't get a job right now but he might still be a FA at the moment because of I assume are his demands.

He needs a REAL agent that can get him a deal he deserves based on a variety of factors.

Obviously any player thinks they still have "it" even when they are older and grayer.

Hell, I still do try to post up on my brother and shoot fade always like Jordan. I'm 41, and I haven't hit a shot in this manner for over 10 years now. But I know I can do it, and will keep trying.

It's called denial. Sherm GET AN AGENT !

if he made up his mind that he'll only play if he's a starter on a good team, then what's the problem? that seems like a rational decision.

Maybe if he was still in his 20's and not 33 coming off of a season ending injury and his worst season as a CB.
I think he recently tweeted something about working out on a peleton treadmill. His mind might be elsewhere now.... or he could just be getting ready to play again lol.
How many more times are we going to watch our secondary get eaten alive before we give Sherm a call? The bucs and panthers are about to snag him
