It sounds ridiculous but if you think about it not really because Dan Snyder is that petty and small of a person. Someone on Twitter has the theory hired to a non-GM f.o. position, but Snyder promotes him to GM the following offseason just to be a dick to Kyle preventing the extra 3rds cuz they didn't initially hire Mayhew as GM. Sounds ridiculous except it isn't.

They said he was being hired to a high position so maybe there's a chance we still get a pick.

Completely making this up but maybe this has to do with Peters? Niners may want to keep Peters around and are planning a promotion for him somehow. Mayhew feels passed up and takes a lateral move.
Just some speculation with my morning coffee...
So....this thread should be moved to nfl talk.

this has actually been discussed. If The Niners REALLY love Peters and aren't going to let him go that's easy. Promote Lynch to President and promote Peters to GM. They can work out the actual roles within the organization.

What do we know? Mayhew isnt going to be the GM and this is basically a lateral move, given that VP of Player Personnel is the position right below GM (same as Adam Peters). Also, lets take in the fact that the WFT is a dumpster fire of an organization. They have the worse owner situation in the league, worse than us (which says alot). Why would he make a lateral move to a worse team and why would Lynch allow it? Maybe Redskins offered a SVP role, that pretty much loopholes the rules and Mayhew is promised the GM role down the road. Maybe not...

Cal McNair would like to have a word with you

So, what do we do with the current President, Paraag Marathe?

Ha! Get rid of him! That'll never happen though!

So we getting comp picks or nah?!

Nope... didn't get a GM title so we get nothing.

We shouldn't get anything anyway. It's a crock of s**t that they reward for that. Just adds to the racism that's plagued the world for far too long.

Hate to see guys go that have helped this organization. But we were stacked at the top with him and Peters. Can't keep em all.

Its not a reward, its compensation. Its a form of racism but definitely not the same racism that has plagued the world thoughout history haha. The type of racism you are referring to that plagued the world is the same racism that resulted in a sport whose players are 70% black with less than 10% in coaching and FO positions.

But yeah, I think Lynch probably wasnt a big fan of Mayhew and gave him to OKAY to go to Washington. Im just glad Peters stayed

Based on what?

Just the perception of the move. The fact that he was able to leave on a lateral move while on contract. Maybe Washington found a way around it. But if Lynch doesnt put up a fight to keep him, then i cant imagine he was a big fan

How do we know its a lateral move when his title and responsibilities haven't been released? How do you know Lynch didn't try to keep him?
Why would Lynch promote Mayhew to VP of player personnel and let him do that for 2 years if he wasn't a big fan?

Bruh, calm down...I aint Grant Cohn writing an article about it. Just a perception of the situation.

What do we know? Mayhew isnt going to be the GM and this is basically a lateral move, given that VP of Player Personnel is the position right below GM (same as Adam Peters). Also, not unheard of to promote someone and sour on them years later. Its just an odd development. Overall, Im pissed that they stole an executive from us and we arent getting anything in return

I'm calm bro I didn't curse you or call you out your name. Just good ole debating. Again we have no clue what his duties are with he Skins. We can't call it a lateral move until that is known. True JL could've soured on MM. But if that's the case I would hope that JL would fire him ASAP instead of leaving him on his staff. And it's not as if MM is such a hot commodity that he didn't have to fire him b/c he knew he was getting another job elsewhere. Only one team interviewed him. Which happens to be the team he had his best years for as a player and won a super bowl with. And I surely don't see Ron Rivera going along with Synder hiring a fake GM that he has to come out and publicly back just for a dog and pony show. That's how you lose your locker room. I dont' see Rivera going along with that and he's proven to be the guy in control. That's clearly evident with the Haskins situation. A guy that Dan Synder made the previous regime draft b/c Synder's son attended high school with Haskins. I live in DC and 1 thing Synder likes more than being petty is money. I don't see him hiring a guy, paying his healthcare, and relocating his family just so KS doesn't get an extra 3rd round pick. Maybe if we were taking the skins pick away from them.
