Good to see qualified people obtain leadership roles. I wish Martin Mayhew all the best as the GM of the WFT. Terrible thing for incentives to be needed to make it happen. That said, I will happily take the extra draft capital.

Good for Mayhew. I did find it strange for him to leave for a lateral position. Makes sense now since he's a GM now.

This season's hiring was perfect timing. The year extra drafts picks are rewarded, we have two people leave and get an extra 3rd round pick in the next three drafts.

This exactly. Washington is the type of team to try and pull some B.S. to try and prevent Kyle from getting extra picks because he doesn't like the family. We will probably never know, but I'll assume the NFL got involved because the 49ers didn't have to let him go.

It would've been great if he was hired next year because then we would get 2 third round picks instead of one but I'll take it and I'm not complaining.

The Washington Football Team is hiring Martin Mayhew as GM, as @john_keim reported earlier. Marty Hurney will come aboard in a senior role.

This was a possibility all along—Hurney told people he didn't need to be GM. Really he just wanted to be involved.

Love the fact the WFT named Mayhew to a position that grants the Niners more draft picks. Don't care how many. Just glad they got some compensation. This migration of minority front office personnel and coaching staff is going to give Niners the draft capital they need to make some serious moves. Don't forget, the Niners should also get more comp picks next year if some of there 27 free agents sign with other teams. What a bonanza!
