Whether it was him or Dominik, the 49ers needed an experienced front office guy and they get exactly that with Mayhew. He's a former teammate of Lynch's as well so I'm sure that didn't hurt in the decision to hire him. His GM record is mixed but he has a plethora of experience that will allow Lynch to lean on him.

With Lynch, Mayhew, Peters and Gamble the front office has come together pretty nicely IMO. All these guys will have specific roles with Lynch acting as the overseer for everything that goes on.

This 👍👋☝️

Gotta like this crew....start comparing to what we had and....no way but up.

With Gamble leaving I guess Peters and Mayhew will be the personnel guys.

No complaints here. We got an experienced guy and a young hotshot. Can't wait for the draft.

I know nothing about front office people but i do know they are doing this the right way starting with cleaning out the coaches.. if you are going to do a housekeeping thing and when you have had the last two years like we have had... no ones job whether it be the front office. the coaches or the players down to verbs cousin in concessions job should be safe. you can not say you want to house clean and change things then start to backtrack just because you have some favorite player or coach or front office or concession stand person. you sweep then all away into the delousing station of history. the hell with all of them.

Here's some articles on Peter's he was a big time hire for us working in Denver for 8 yrs and prior to that in NE for 7 yrs

Martin Mayhew was GM in Detroit for 15 yrs then the Giants Director of Football Operations last yr....if you look at his overall drafts with the lions he's done pretty well, he helped them get past the Matt Millen s**t.

Is this a Rooney rule thing?
Meh, they can have him.

Why?

I wouldn't be that dismissive as if he has done nothing for us. He has been helpful in John Lynch's first year I am sure. But I think it is a good look that we are giving him permission to interview and seek an opportunity. If he gets hired away I do think its a net loss for the front office but recoverable for sure.

Now if Adam Peters starts getting interviews we should all be in full panic mode. That dude is invaluable to our Front Office operations and is John Lynch's right hand man. His eye for talent and personnel acumen is really the untold story of our successful turnaround. We owe a big favor to Denver for that one.

Why not ? If the man gets a promotion that's good for him and his family. Plus what has he done that's so irreplaceable ?
Ugh, but I knew it was only a matter of time before him and Peters would start getting interviews elsewhere and potentially leave.
It sounds like he's only in the pool and they already have an inside front runner.

Well, The draft andFA work has been good and I am guessing he had plenty of input. I don't want other teams taking our talent.
