Probably not realistic. He's making millions on his existing contract for the next 2 years. He's going to go on a vacation and maybe he resurfaces next year I'm guessing.

I've never been a fan of hiring or firing a coach during the season. It smells like panic. The players have to learn a new system or at least get used to a new coordinator unless they just promote a guy from within. If they do that then nothing will really change since he's likely to continue the same system that the previous coordinator used.

Yeah certain teams luck into a hires like the Dolphins with McDaniels cause I don't think most 49er fans thought he was HC material. Especially when the Dolphins had just fired a HC in Flores who was doing a really good job that firing made no sense.

A starting QB goes down most teams are going to struggle but I do agree they have enough talent they shouldn't be almost dead last

Usually offensive coaches make better HCs. There are exceptions like Belichick but the game has become so tilted in favor of the offense that it's better to get a HC that understands it.

Nah Ryans was great, an upgrade on Saleh even. Not having a well defined in house replacement for him was the mistake.

Can't help if coordinators earn head coaching positions. Definitely not much you can do to prepare when your defensive coordinators gets poached every other year.

grief. you wonder what went down. was this an Aaron Rodgers power struggle? they famously got a lil chippy Saleh went for the hug and got rejected Rodgers was giving him the business. reality is Rodgers isn't that good anymore.

The losing seasons and Rodgers (imo) had more to do with it than anything else...

However, rumor has it that he had a patch or something of the sort representing something that might have something to it (fired without any notice/goodbyes and security)
