Robert had the most talented team defensively by far anyone decent would have looked good.

2019 8th pa 2nd ya
2020 17th pa 5th ya

stats don't lie.
But even look at the guy everyone hated last year who had the following.
3rd in points allowed 8th in yards allowed.

Please tell me how he was so great?

He took one of the worst defenses in history in 2016 under O'Neil and in a few years had helped turn it into the strength of this team over Kyles offense.

Thing about Salah, he would be an excellent next-level-down guy, a kind of sideline hype man. His rah-rah 'Go out and get 'em' game was absolutely excellent. His x and o's were unconvincing - felt like he was rolling the dice the whole time.
If you could get him rallying the troops, while someone else called the shots you'd be on to a winner.

Agreed

A rally coach. Every team should hire one of those.

Stats can be deceiving.

Seeing that that defense has been good with two other coaches and 90% different players I say that's more to Kyle and Lynch.

2019 was special but if nick had that same line we would be saying same thing about this year.
Nothing about Saleh stands out besides being a rah rah guy.
It was line them up, let front 4 win and if they don't we were in trouble.
Nothing creative that I remember.

I remember talking mad s**t about the guy and looking stupid for it. But you do you.
Belichick defending Saleh on the McAfee show made me smile. Lots of high praise from the best defensive mind ever in football.
Wanted him back in the worst way but not surprised he went with his buddy.

Well if they can't get Saleh back then they get the next best thing in Jeff UIbrich. He's worked with Shanahan in Atlanta, he's from the Bay and he's had some of the best defenses in the NFL. 11th in points allowed and 4th in yards for the past three seasons and this is with s**tty offenses putting their defense on the field for most of the game.

Please get rid of Sorensen!!!!!
that Jets defense isn't the same since his firing.

Honestly, the Jets have had a really tough schedule the last few weeks and not to mention Aaron Rodgers is hot garbage. Rodgers and his diva self are hurting the team more than helping it. I bet Ulbrich is having a real tough time getting that offense on the same page. If I were the Jets I'd probably go all in and try to get Bobby Slowik from Houston next year. Next, ax the Aaron Rodgers fiasco then sign two low tier QB's like Cooper Rush and Josh Dobbs and redraft the QB position.

So glad the 9ers didn't trade for Aaron Rodgers, dodged a huge bullet there.
