4-3 we'd need two edge rushers, and new LB while forcing our two 1st round picks and our heart and soul of our defense (Bowman) out of thier natural scheme
Wrong. Read the article on the 4-3 under in this thread.
What scheme has AA, Buckner, and Bowman played thier entire career including college? Not saying they can't do it but it's not their forte. I would think Bowman would be able to switch no problem before the injury but last year he wasn't able to keep up in coverage a lot of the time

- NFL Pick 'em
As long as this is more of an attacking defense I'm all for it, 3-4 or 4-3 doesn't matter. Attack from all schemes whether defense, offense or special teams!

It's not the same scheme as your traditional 4-3. And if we need two edge rushers in a 4-3 why wouldn't we need the same in a 3-4? Our current edge rushers are arguably a better fit in a 4-3 than a 3-4 (Lynch, Brooks, Tank, Eli) as they all stink in coverage.
Regarding Bowman, he was a star college LB in a 4-3 scheme. We actually forced him into the 3-4. And one of either Buckner or Armstead will be playing the same exact technique as they have been. The other will be moving in one gap. I encourage you to look at the actual scheme before making your judgement. Originally for me as well moving to a 4-3 wasn't the right choice but this scheme isn't the same as what you probably think.

What about a good offense and a good defense? You know, like that team in New England? I think they're pretty good...

For those complaining about Saleh, who did you think we were going to get with how late we got our head coach?
Retread....b**ch about him being a retread
If he was a linebackers coach you never heard of for the Patriots everyone would be balls to the wall all in.

Defo plays 3t.
Just throwing this out there but I think Blair is special and can see him taking this role. Last weight listed was 284. He's got long arms and is stronger than both AA an Buckner, was the combine best performer at his position with 32 reps. He also doesn't have the issue with height that is creating leverage problems for both AA and Buckner.

A NT two OLB's and a starting ILB next to bowman, assuming he comes back healthy.

That's a good point, jcs. I think this scheme will be a great fit for Blair.
I think we need one LB: a really explosive and athletic weakside LB that can chase after the ball. I think Bow will be fine at MLB, and Eli--on paper--has the physical traits and attributes to be a athletic SLB that can set the edge on the front side, drop into coverage as a hook/curl/flat defender and mix in some pass rushing when it's called.
