I think as long as this talent is healthy and now that the system is 3 years established, the rest of the coaching staff are in great shape for a seamless transition. IMHO of course.
Don't mess with what's working. Old saying but always true.

Oh I don't want him to leave...just saying we'd be fine because I don't think his role is anywhere in the same stratosphere like Kyle's is to the offense.

STILL got some flow on his play calling.... it was best that he didn't become a HC this early... another year or two will make him a better coach...
Plus, he keeps our D this good next year, he'll be even a hotter commodity..
IMAGINE he landing a HC job that is in the TREVOR LOTTERY !!!

We get to keep Saleh, Peters and McDaniel!
I figured that would happen if we won. They wouldn't want to wait until February to hire a young coach like Saleh. He hasn't been in the league long enough to hire a good staff that late in the game, he doesn't have enough connections in the league.
It was a little different with Kyle because, he had been on plenty of different teams and he also had connections from his father as well.

It's perfect for the Browns. They already have their excuse if he doesn't work out. Gee we wanted Saleh but we didn't want to wait until the SB was over. We were afraid one of the other guys would have changed their mind.

But it didn't mean he made great personnel choices and knew how to tailor a great game plan and make quality in game adjustments at an elite level or learn from his mistakes. There's far more to being a play caller than just being a SME in the scheme itself. Saleh does know this scheme inside and out AND has learned more about W9 and variant coverages now thanks to Kocurek and Woods.
The problem is Roman didn't have another QB to go to when Kaep couldn't hit the side of a barn.

This is best case scenario for him really. He'a very green as a coach.
This gives him a chance to continue to learn and hone his craft with a defense that will be goof for another year or two at min.
Plus why would he want to work for a toxic organization like the browns? Another opportunity will come and hopefully with a better organization where he isn't destined to fail.

My thinking exactly. The Browns are cursed. No matter how many top draft picks and coaches come through that organization, they are always s**t.

I wouldn't even consider going to the Browns organization if I were a successful coordinator in the NFL. The place is a death trap for coaches and players with horrible ownership. I give Jed York a ton of credit for looking in the mirror and realizing that the top of the org can't control the middle as far as players and coaching. You hire executives and coaches to do a job for you, not so you can second guess everything they are doing. Jed and his people were interrupting everything in the previous decade or more. Ownership writes the checks, executives manage employees, staff, coaches. GM's find talent for the scheme in coordination with the head coach and help assemble capable coordinator/ position coaches. Look a Dallas, Oakland, Washington, ect, all had too much chaos from ownership getting their hands too deep in operations.
This is why I greatly respect and appreciate Jed for finally recognizing this, stepping back, writing the checks, and letting people do their jobs. I hope that we keep Kyle around like the Pats have with Belechick. Not every year will be a playoff year, but I feel a majority of them will with consistency.

I can see it now:
Texans fire O'Brien tomorrow.
Hire Saleh.
Realize they have a GM vacancy so Saleh takes Peters with him.

Just look at Fangio prior to joining the 49ers and how many times he called bottom 5 NFL defenses. He did so well that no one wanted to give him another DC position until Jim brought him to Stanford. Talent wins. You look a lot smarter when you have it and a lot dumber when you don't.
That was Walsh's mantra. Kyle has repeated it. It certainly seems to be working right now.
