3 teams have blown 10 point 2nd half leads in Super Bowl. Common thread: they all played that cover-3 Seattle scheme. It's more or less the same look play after play and relies on pass rush. The 3rd & 15 was KC's version of a Seattle-beater #SuperBowlLIV

We need upgrade on Dee Ford-another pass rusher, cb, wr and maybe a Qb.

How do you blame Saleh when the D line is all over Mahomes and the backs let Hill get wide open on a 3rd and 15 for a 40 yrd completion. That was a back breaker that lit the fire under the Chiefs. If they don't let Hill get opened like that and the Chiefs punt, we win that game.

Defense just got gassed. We held the high powered Chiefs offense to 10 points halfway through the 4th QTR. We had 20 points on the board at the time of our 2nd INT. There was no way we should've lost that game. Defense played as well as you could ask them to but got zero help from the offense since after our 20th point in the 3rd QTR. Saleh went with what worked all game. Same thing we ask Shanny to do (run until they figure out how to stop it), we did. What we did not expect is for our offense to crap the bed at the most inopportune time. This loss feels worse than 2012 cuz we actually had the game in the bag and KC snatched it out

Exsctly, the offense had three straight drives that were basically 3 and out. Mahomes essentially went no huddle, our guys were gassed. Maybe that's why Saleh was subbing guys in during the first half, sensing that we got a lead late in the game this would happen.

Offense choked away all the defense's hard work. Unbelievable that we couldn't do all that much outside of the gadget plays.

The thing is that if you're putting pressure on the guy but not getting there with four then send five and put his ass on the ground and create more interceptions by sending more pressure.

My only issue is us not destroying Mahomes on those option plays. You have to tee off on QBs like that every chance you get.

Just rewatched the 3 scoring drives for the chiefs in the 4th quarter. 21-0 run.

Of the 3 drives, the 49ers rushed more than the base 4 only once.
What's that tell me? Saleh kept them in cover-3/Quarters (prevent) for every single drive. No imagination, no creativity. Fail.

This! Absolutely no agressiveness by Selah. This was my worst fear going into this game. He falls in love with the 4 man rush and rarely brings any pressure. Mahomes was salivating, knowing our soft-a D coordinator would run our prevent defense, & sure enough! Did anyone witness any imagination on Selah's part last night?

+1
Tartt should have blasted him instead of back peddling on the one yard line and letting him score in the first half

I'm curious enough to watch those three drives again once the all22 it out. The entire gameplan was about putting a lid on the KC explosive plays. If Saleh was dialing up C3 and Quarters all game long, I see no reason to stop doing that in the 4Q, it was working. I don't think Cover3/Quarters necessarily means they were playing prevent.
