No, Crocker is pretty annoyed by it (like I am about pass protection). We went an entire trade, free agent and draft period without adding any talent to either.

He's not only concerned about this year but especially next year. He wants some talent in this year to train for next year.

Isn't Crocker the one who didn't get the Bosa pick cause we were fine on the dline .

I swear some of these 49er podcasts have a very narrow minded way of looking at the rosters. I like what KS is doing much more than what many posters or media members on here would want. And that hasn't always been the case.

Crocker? Don't think so. He's a huge 9er homer former NFL player who assesses CB and WR very well. For instance, he called out Emmanuel Moseley long before he became a starter, Metcalf for the Hawks, etc.

In fact, he's one of the few who watches all the film and gives his objective reviews.

He's not like Lombardi who provides great info but is 100% towing the company line on any move or non move the FO makes 100% of the time.

You can also challenge Crocker and he'll objectively give you HOW he reached his conclusions in great details.

It's actually very refreshing. LOL

I think he means why hasn't he done a media call. But defensive coordinators aren't required to give post draft pressers and in these times right now, it's not surprising that he hasn't been public.

Idk what one would expect to hear from him anyhow, it will be all sunshine and rainbows right now.

I'd say that's pretty well confirmed by now. I don't even know why I asked. LOL

Yeah screw that. If anything I want to hear from Kocurek on this guy and count how many F bombs he drops in excitement.

No

If we had a more experienced DC, would we see more capital spread around more evenly between offense and defense?

Lynch said during one of the recent pressers that their approach to building a team is to get a QB, then get guys that can hit the QB. I think Kyle puts a high emphasis on hitting the QB. When he was OC of the Texans, the coaching staff asked his opinion on who they should draft. To their surprise, he said Mario Williams, not Reggie Bush, who would have made Kyle's job as OC easier.

I think the next step for this defense is to acquire CBs that can play man to man. They've been using so much zone in this scheme the past three years. Last season they expanded their variety when it comes to zone coverages, but were still a very heavy zone defense. It's time to add man to man coverage to the toolkit. If ARI is on the come up as a division contender, then being able to play man is even more important since they are not shy about playing 4 WRs, spreading things out formationally, and running RPOs to expose a stretched out defense. Playing man coverage is a good answer to RPOs.

If this defense can keep up the good pass rush while being able to play both zone and man effectively, then they can approach each game with a specific gameplan and keep offenses off balance. If a QB has trouble reading zone, play zone. If a QB has trouble throwing into tight man, play man. If it's a vet QB that has seen it all, then mix things up to keep them guessing.

Here's another vote for that.

Absolutely agree. Most of the big plays we gave up were when one player didn't get over to cover when the other left the receiver. It's a lot more complicated to play a zone correctly than a man to man but you have to have the athletes to do it. When Sherman was at Seattle they had the athletic guys to play man but he's a little slow now so he can't do it as well.

When Sherm was in Seattle they still played Cover 3 the majority of the time.
