Reid is in the final year of his deal, so we could either look to trade him if someone bites, or have him battle with Tartt at SS. Bethea is as good as cut, so there's more money available in FA.

Read my mind.
Forget the talent. Is he fully healthy? CB with no wheels is no good, no matter how talented.

Williams played a lil FS in Cleveland, he and Ward are about the same size and can do both positions, (maybe no missing a beat in a rotation with Ward)...

"Williams burst onto the Browns' scene in 2014 as an undrafted free agent who stunned many by usurping first-round pick Justin Gilbert in the secondary, serving primarily as the team's nickel corner."

There's Williams, Rashard, Redmond, Johnson, Jacorey, Davis, Reaser, Cromartie, Prince Charles (long list of CBs)

Good to see that the new regime is attracting FA's.

CLE made a dumb decision.

Williams burst onto the Browns' scene in 2014 as an undrafted free agent who stunned many by usurping first-round pick Justin Gilbert in the secondary, serving primarily as the team's nickel corner. His most memorable performance came during the Browns' historic, comeback win over the Titans in Tennessee in Week 5 of the 2014 season.

Less than two seasons later, things got a little hairy. Williams suffered an ankle injury during training camp prior to the 2016 season, and when offered a full workload in a preseason contest against Green Bay, Williams chose not to accept it, citing his injury as the reason. The Browns viewed this as conduct detrimental to the team and suspended him for two games (a loss of one game check).

Williams sought a second opinion on his injury, and the independent specialist from the Cleveland Clinic informed him he needed surgery to remove bone spurs. Twelve days after his suspension, Williams was released by the Browns. The corner spent the season out of football while recovering from ankle surgery and filed a grievance against the Browns, which will be heard on May 16 in Cleveland, per Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. Williams is seeking full payment of his 2016 salary, as well as reimbursement for the cost of his ankle surgery.

And that's why the Browns will always suck

They could have all 32 picks in the 1st round and still find a way to f**k it up

Players flourish once they leave that organization

Like many of us have said a lot of free agents will be coming here because of Lynch and Shanahan. This guy was rated I believe 14th his first year and close to 40th his second year. That is pretty awesome considering he was undrafted and he's on the Cleveland Browns.

Let that sink in, he was on the Cleveland Browns. He is fast a great Blitzer and a very good slot corner. He might beat out Redmond pretty easily so we have some serious depth. It also allows ward to concentrate on the outside or hopefully back to free safety. This is a great signing and we beat out for other teams. Get used to it

He's a a lot guy I'm all about quickness there

True...unless he is forced to cover a 6'5" TE/WR from the slot. LOL. Redmond/Davis have some competition now!
This signing is a good move, and opens up movement for others in our secondary. Bethea is as good as gone.

pretty sure Davis, Cromartie and Sheppard are FA's, I assume all FA's are gone till re-signed

Robinson should get that LCB spot, Reaser or Johnson at RCB, Redmond or Williams as the SCB, good group of CB's imo

We could use another safety, can go big with Cyprien who Saleh is familiar with, I like Cromartie too, who can play CB or Safety

I would think that there was enough talent in the present secondary that signing another DB wasn't necessary. However, this is Shanahan's call and let's see what he can do.

He's a nickel corner. I am still hoping we get Ward to FS.

Ward's not fast enough. We need berry. Berry, tarrt, Williams, ward, and Redmond... That's the starting dB's we need

Agreed. I really think the team is going to draft Malik Hooker at 2 unless they love a QB.

Ward and Robinson on the outside, the new guy in the slot and Reid/Tartt competing for SS.

No no...hooker is good but your not spending a 2nd overall pick on a safety man. Ward FS Reid/tarrt SS

Would you have taken Thomas No. 2? Ed Reed? The guy is that good. I mean, why not take the guy that locks up FS for 10 years No. 2 overall?

I don't care what position we draft at 2. As long as they will be a staple on the team for years. And that they are a top 5 player. That's why I don't want a qb. No QB is top 5 talent wise

Reid ends up as SS, bethea is NOT gonna be on this team this yr

I'd to see what the defensive backfield would look like as Ward at FS and Reid at SS.
