i have more faith in bourne. james hurd and taylor to make a positive impact on our team than i do with goodwin and pettis

a 6th to unload his contract would be great news for us, if possible.

I'll take anything we can get. Better than getting nothing in return and releasing him. With a class this stacked at WR, we could add a guy like Tyler Johnson, Van Jefferson, or even Darnell Mooney in the mid to late rounds as another speedster in the rotation.
I'm afraid we may wind up eating this one. With such a deep pool of WR's coming out this draft I don't think teams will be giving up that much.

If Goodwin was a reliable starter we would be looking at this different but he's not. He can't stay healthy which is often the case with really fast guys. Lot's of muscle pulls and they aren't built for a lot of contact. He only catches around 50% of his targets and he's a situational player on this team. You can't pay a lot for less than 2 receptions per game. The question is who will be willing to take him.

His contract is actually pretty low for a 29 year old with speed. Team acquiring him would have two years of control.
Sanu went for a 2nd. He's 30 (older) and has $14 million owed on the last 2 years of his contract (more $$ than Goodwin).
Sanders (older, better, but a half year rental) plus a 5th went for a 3rd and a 4th.
Yes, this is a deep WR class. But rookies can take time to develop and few have Godwin's speed. I'm guessing Goodwin goes for a 4th or 5th.

bourne took that spot, not to be harsh. but way to many excuses for goodwin here
I don't trust Bourne worth a dam. Bourne took that spot by virtue of no other options while Goodwin was injured. Big deal.
Not sure how you can trust Goodwin either . They both drop passes and Goodwin is often injured.
I'd be happy with a 4th or 5th rounder for Goodwin.
I'm fine with Goodwin gone if you get me a fast WR to take his place. That means our #1 in the draft, FA for IOL help, and kiss off any impactful secondary guys. Or a trade down in the draft and a 2nd for a WR and a 3rd for our secondary.
Either way I want someone fast, someone to stretch the field consistently. Sanders showed he can beat guys deep against New Orleans and KC, but I'd rather use him as a surprise deep weapon.
And the bloody guy better be able to catch the oblong spheroid. I've seen far too many highly touted guys over the years with burner speed who turned out to have stones for hands. That's why I'd think our #1 is in order.

What's the point of having a fast WR when we don't have a QB who can throw deep accurately on a consistent basis.

Interesting to see the positive things about Goodwin posted now that fans desire any semblance of a return.

I mean he's a plus route-runner with elite speed and on a cheap deal.... He is always hurt and has butterfingers.
I got no idea what that's worth to 31 other teams

Not straight up. But you might be able to package him with one of our 5th round picks to land that 4th round pick.

Who knows probably not BUT he's not quick, he's literally one or if not the fastest guys in the NFL.
You're not getting anyone close to that fast on day 3 of the draft.
Someone who's got a crap ton of comp picks might be interested.

Over 1000 yds. in 2017 before he got hurt. With Jimmy G., 99, 106, 124 (10 of it rushing), 37, 38.
Yeah just bad mouth the guy and try to trade him for a 5th. Cuz we're loaded with 1000 yd. receivers on our team - Bourne, Hurd, Taylor, Pettis.

You guys are all way to turned on by speed. Look up the top 10 fastest receivers ever and see how bad their careers were. I'm not saying that some speed is important but sub 4.3 is not necessary and in fact doesn't translate to great numbers. The sweet spot seems to be in the 4.4-4.5 range which is still fast. The idea that you're going to line up and run past a defender is a fantasy unless the defender is old and slow. Corners often have just as much speed as receivers if not more. I'll take a guy with decent size , good but not blazing speed that knows how to run routes. They get open more often. Truth is, most QBs can't throw the ball deep enough to really use all that speed. Either that or they don't have the time.
