What do you mean move him around? What exactly is a WR1 anyway?

It's just a depth chart thing.

At this pt that's Deebo and that doesn't change if Goodwin comes back.

I'm with you NY on this one. If Goodwin becomes our #1 or even a starter, then we're in trouble. We have better options than him If we don't keep Sanders then we need to draft a WR.

But, we'll probably be trading down at #31 - so we'll be missing out on one of the better WRs. So, we're going to have to sign Sanders or it's going to be Goodwin, Deebo, Bourne or Pettis having to step up.

It doesn't matter what happens, it doesn't make Goodwin into something he isn't, and has proved not to be.

Dude there's about 15 or so WRs that are difference makers and not all of them will be drafted before 31.

Nah he's actually a decent route-runner. He can't stay healthy and his hands are subpar. His speed will keep him in the league (like Ted Ginn Jr). I don't know if he will stay on this team though. $ is limited and the draft has cheap alternatives.

He's still a better option than Sanders, IMO.

No he isn't. Sanders is a elite route-runner NEVER drops balls and actually stays on the field.

I have no idea why you keep proclaiming this?

But, he's slow - I want some speed from my WR1. I think Goodwin can fill that roll and not cost a much.

goodwin as a #1!? my guy you have lost your damn mind! for one dude never stays on the field, bless him but seems to have personal issues every year then on top of health, then he drops damn catchable balls. He's 29 and has never ever been a #1. that ship has sailed and I hope we can even get a 7th for him at least

Well, he was our #1 back a few years ago. Until we get an upgrade he's going to have to fill that roll.

mayo, what is wrong with you... we got a upgrade with deebo and sanders... the man did not step up when we stepped up our efforts to upgrade... i just can not believe and i am nuts... you think this guy can be or is a number one wide out

oh and cc forgot to say...... there is a reason why kyle is shopping goodwin. so many excuse goodwin cuz of personal things.. but kyle obviously is looking beyond that and keeping it all about football. desire and commitment and production. we get told all the time. kyle knows best. the coaches who see the guys know best. so in regards to goodwin. kyle sees him every day. saw him every day and saw what goodwin is either unable or unwilling to do. bourne beat out goodwin. that stuff does not happen if you are a number one as mayor proclaims him to be. and the stuff about goodwin being better than sanders is something not even last years pre season cc could make up

Maybe, I'm wrong about Goodwin - I thought his personal issues we're what was holding him back. I guess time will tell.

The personal issue may have been a factor but lot's of people have problems. Thomas had the issue with his sister. I remember Favre going out and playing a game the the day after his dad passed away. People deal with this stuff in different ways but professionals usually find a way to put it behind them and continue their job. It may sound cold but team members and coaches look at how guys handle that stuff. Publicly they will support them but inside they may be thinking the guy isn't tough enough.

Lynch and Kyle seem like guys who really care about their players. Unfortunately this is a production based business. I feel for guys like Solomon and Goodwin. I lost my only sibling unexpectedly a week before Solomon lost his. This is the hard part of sports. Especially ones with a salary cap.

You have a limited cap and a roster restriction. If someone isn't being productive for whatever reason then your really on a tight leash for how long you can wait and look beyond the other stuff. It sucks but it's the unfortunate part about professional sports. My guess is the same as it has been for months and that's Goodwin will not be a niner come September.

It's pretty hard to look at what his real history shows and predict success from that. That's just wishing and hoping for something we haven't seen displayed.

I agree that Kyle and Lynch seem like they care about the players and maybe they do. We only have their public face to go on. Like you said it is a performance based business. The sympathy can only go so far. Sooner or later you have to get on the field. The players understand this and if Goodwin can't get out there and contribute then he's gone. They recently had a baby so that might help but I really don't think he's that good. His one good season was when the team was terrible and they had few options other than let Beathard throw deep. He has way too high of a drop rate.
