Had plenty of time to lock him up all season if the FO really wanted him. This FO let him hit FA and "hoped" he wouldn't have a market with a strong WR draft class coming up and they could moneyball him. It didn't work. Saints are much stronger now.

Not if we believe what he said after he left, "Jimmy is my guy."

Also, that "scrub" has world class speed, a premium on this team.

I am wondering if they will give Goodwin a chance to properly compete in training and preseason for a roster spot or they are just hanging onto him to trade him?

They might be waiting to see how the draft shakes out. If they ended up with Ruggs they would have very little reason to keep Goodwin. Maybe they make the trade after the 1st round.

what good does that speed do if he can not see the field. you can draft a million guys to do what this guy does. and with a better work ethic and commitment to the game. the goodwin excuses are stunning to me

Not a theory. We do know this...someone has to go. No reason for this team to carry 7 receivers, which is where we are at once we draft one this year. I'd honestly like 2 rookies along with the best out of Taylor, Pettis, and Goodwin (I'm counting Samuel, Bourne, and a healthy Hurd as locks).

Pretty much this. I think Goodwin is an amazing human being, but this is football and he hasn't done s**t.

I love MG as a human, but as a player he's been average at best, had a great 2017, but dropped off in 2018 and 2019.

I can see 7 WRs to be honest, and just 2 TEs, with Hurd being a WR/TE hybrid redzone threat.

I agree. But I would love to see Goodwin come good. I like him more then Pettis and think he has a chance of finding his form. Pettis I have little confidence in. He is too weird.
Depends on the draft. If we end up with Jeudy he still may have some use as a deep threat. If we land Ruggs he's useless.
