Goodwin? Try blistering 4.2 speed. He's got rare vertical speed. In fact, since the NFL combine started recording electronically timed 40s, only 6 football players have timed faster than Goodwin.

Torrey Smith can only dream of being as fast as Marquise Goodwin.

Yeah and Goodwin you can argue isnt in his full prime cause of track... Next year i would say hes in his prime.

He could be but he's more in the mold of Taylor Gabriel from the Falcons whom Kyle used in a little bit different ways.

Kyle is also very good and committed in developing route trees for his receivers, I think Goodwin will have a big season with the coaching he is getting instead of being second fiddle to Watkins.

Torrey also lacked any fight for the ball. He wasn't a terrible route runner but was only effective if the deep ball was a factor for him. When I watched film of him in Balt they were able to do more things with him because they were able to get him the deep ball at least a couple times every other game or so. Without that, he was very limited. He struggles finding the right depths and gears in zones over the middle(by gears I mean knowing when to slow down or speed up to hit the hole in the zone in time with the QB).

Really, I'm hoping he'll be a Mike Wallace/Taylor Gabriel mix. Garcon is big enough to work underneath with our TE's in concepts. McD has shown enough flashes that I think a really interesting combo will be Garcon and Goodwin with McD as the TE and then George Kittle as a tweener TE/WR. I think it'll create real problems in matchup. Too big to cover with a slot guy, too small to cover with a normal slot guy. Also, if they put a Nickel in, run the dang ball. If they put a LB in, pass the dang ball. You have a huge HR threat in Goodwin on one side, that virtually guarantees that you'll have an open guy on the other side if your QB knows his concepts and can process it.

Agreed on the route tree. He was actually third fiddle behind Woods, if you wanna get technical. This will definitely be his best chance to shine thus far in his career. Having a guy like Piere Garcon atop the depth chart can be a great crutch for the other receivers, if they use it. Garcon is a great route runner.

From what I see early on in Goodwin is promising. He's not just straight line fast, but has a nice quickness to him as well through his cuts. If he continues to improve his route running, he could be a nice explosive weapon in the same mold as Gabriel for this offense.

He was a world class track athlete. He is the absolute real deal when it comes to speed.
