No he wasn't lol. He lead the team in tackles, getting more than Khalil Mack.

You can be a fairly poor player and still rack up tackles. Raiders fans are universally happy to see him go. Hopefully he does better with the 49ers.

Would you say the contract is... hard to swallow?

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/seahawks/2015/01/29/malcolm-smith-super-bowl-xlviii-mvp-achalasia-seattle/22558657/
Smith, 25, takes greatest satisfaction from his ongoing ability to deal with achalasia, a rare disorder that affects around one in 100,000 people and makes eating a painstaking and uncomfortable process.
It regularly takes Smith more than an hour to complete his meals, which is why he usually finds a lone spot at the lunch table and does his own thing. Achalasia impedes the swallowing functions of the esophagus, causing sufferers to regurgitate mid-meal, even with taking measures such as a special chewing technique, using tiny bites and avoiding certain foods.

Middle school lunches must have really been a treat for him.

Hurry up and eat your vegetables. You're just stalling!

Poor kid.
Depends on what he was asked to do with the Raiders.

If he was asked to defend tight ends, then of course he will look bad.

In the 4-3 Under defense, he will probably play the WILL position. He might only be asked for run support and to tackle.

We still need a SAM linebacker to cover the tight ends.

LB Malcolm Smith's deal w/ SF a strong one: Five years, $26.5 million with $13m guaranteed, source says. (Up from his $3.5 per year w/ Oak.)

Way overpaid...
That's a 5.3 million avg for a guy who's had over 100 Tackles each of the last two years who fits a need and has experience in the system we what to implement. I think it's more than fair.

Sound logic. Thus far we see a trend with Shanalynch (Lynchshanity for the Asian peeps) draft talented key support players that know their system on both sides of the field (Malcolm Smith, Logan Paulsen, Brian Hoyer) to facilitate the transition. I'm loving the other skill position signings as well.

...so we will have a LB that likes to tackle other than Bowman...Awesome Signing!

This franchise is just giving away money to average players.

Superbowl MVP that led the Raiders in tackles last year (over mack) and is 27 years old..
Unfortunately after 3 years of chaos ( or even 4, because even in 2013 there were rumours of Baalke and Harbaugh not getting along) you will not be able to attract top-tier personnel, also these average players are better than that what you have, they will help you to get up the ground and moving in the right direction. Pair them with some promising rookies, and in a few years you will be able to sign top-tier players.

Starts up front... different schemes, different responsibilities. He played well in this scheme before... not a guarantee he will for us but I'll trust MGMT. also how was the Raiders DL anyways?
typo???

Good looking out. Who knows? Where's MM & MB? These deals are official now.
The best part of this signing is he & Saleh have a history together in Seattle...I'd surely think our new DC has some ideas on how best to use Smith. Let's face it, once Bowman & Ray Ray went down last season, we really didn't have anyone other than Hodges consistently making plays. The longer the Cousins issue goes on, the less likely it becomes he'll be a Niner for the 2017 season. So, that gives Lynch more cap space to spend on other players...which could include another LB & DL. I really wouldn't mind them re-signing Hodges at all...but Saleh & Co. may have someone else in mind. There's also the draft, which has a number of excellent LB's, S & DL. Overall, I think Smith is a solid signing.

Ray Ray ??????

In pass downs he can be in the nickel. Smith and Ray-Ray are going to be a damn feisty TC battle...possibly lasting all the way to pre season.
I just saw 2 years 7 mil??
