If Lynch gets back to his rookie weight he has the ability to be our sam. He has the speed was a 4.69 40 at his pro day at 250

Lynch shouldn't be in coverage. Let him put his hand in the dirt and go.

His 40 time doesn't matter. His inability to keep his weight down means we can't trust him to stay fit enough to drop back.

When we were giving up 200 yard rushing games last season he was the starter...take that in. He's not good against the run. He was also exclusively a passrusher in college and is still learning how to that's why I said he lacks the skill.

harold f**king sucks rushing the passer. he spins when he already has the edge on someone and he tries to get the corner on someone who has already beaten him there when he should use a spin move back to the inside. he has no instinct for rushing the QB. he'll luck into a sack or two but he is garbage. another classic by baalke

Lynch is aware that we are in dire need of NT. So he is trying to get himself up to that weight. Truly a team player .
A lot of you continue to throw out Smith's stats but are ignoring the fact he was the 67th rated inside backer last year. Look I'm not saying I don't like our pick ups because I like most of them and if the money is right I like this one but saying he is way better than what we had the actual football grade doesn't line up that way. So maybe a good depth pick up but if he's starting for us next year and we overpaid I don't know how much of an upgrade this really is.

I think we've seen enough runs on 3rd and 15+ given up on his side of the field to know who was at fault.

That's fair I suppose but he's back in the scheme he was good in. He's competing for the spot at WILL and possibly SAM. Time will tell. If he doesn't start he's good depth to be able to slide in and hopefully keep the LB crew going .

I know I certainly have...

Pretty much.

Lockette was preseason only.

Well seeing that we had historical one of the worst defense of all time last season... I would say signing anyone that is physically gifted is an upgrade

Smith should be a contributor, Shannhan has said before that he likes speed on defense, this guy has plenty of that and is a hard hitter

What did Norton run in Oakland? I assumed that since he had been with Carroll that he ran a similar defense to what Saleh will run.? But maybe they ran Del Rios Defense?

agreed
Ray Ray and now Smith give us 2 pretty good Will LB's. I expect Bowman to be the SAM.

Nope. Bow is the Mike. Brooks is SAM. (Unless Malcom gets pushed over there).
