Lynch shouldn't be in coverage. Let him put his hand in the dirt and go.
His 40 time doesn't matter. His inability to keep his weight down means we can't trust him to stay fit enough to drop back.

When we were giving up 200 yard rushing games last season he was the starter...take that in. He's not good against the run. He was also exclusively a passrusher in college and is still learning how to that's why I said he lacks the skill.

That's fair I suppose but he's back in the scheme he was good in. He's competing for the spot at WILL and possibly SAM. Time will tell. If he doesn't start he's good depth to be able to slide in and hopefully keep the LB crew going .

Well seeing that we had historical one of the worst defense of all time last season... I would say signing anyone that is physically gifted is an upgrade
Smith should be a contributor, Shannhan has said before that he likes speed on defense, this guy has plenty of that and is a hard hitter
