terrible signing. i remember when some of us b***hed about it. we were told. he was signed for his knowledge of the defense we were running. sorry. you sign someone cuz they are a good player. to much money. bad player. good riddance

Cc, this is why people rag on you. Instead of giving props that they found a first year starter in the 5the round. Instead, you just bash in Lynch for this signing.

If Greenlaw wasn't looking like a great prospect, like Fred Warner, Smith wouldn't have been cut.

you do not know that.. smith has done zilch since he has been here or close to zilch, i have given lynch alot of credit in free agency or the draft. sorry i did not slobber all over him for green law. an over sight by me. but i stand by my statements on the day smith was signed.... over payed for a guy who overall in his nfl life has been average. and just like ward. the rare times he did play. he was not memorable.
He only plays well in the Super Bowl, and its our fault for not getting there.

I don't get how it was a terrible signing when we had so much money. I could see if we were cash strapped but that wasn't the case. Plus he probably helped some of the guys learn the system since he played in the same system his whole career.

Because we only got 35 tackles out of it.

Yea but it's not like it hurt us in anyway, last few years have been a wash. If anything it helped our young linebackers learn the system quicker.

This couldn't have been a Lynch move, not entirely. Lynch will miss him dearly, Smith gets hurt a lot

its 2019, we can become women if we feel like it and go back depending on circumstances.

Signing someone just because you have alot of money is a terrible excuse to justify someone who is just not very good

He was more brought in to try to teach the defense and be a leader. It just didn't work out. He couldn't stay healthy. But I'm sure he helped a lot in the LB meetings and on the sideline.

but we had the money so it was fine. hell if we had so much money for example. how come lynch did not make a SERIOUS run at actual good players like hightower when he was a free agent. we had the money to extend ward. we had the money to extend aa for example. using that as a pitiful excuse to justify crap players makes me sick

yes. maybe he played a hand in us being the worst tackling team in the nfl. you bring in players who can play the game but even when he played he was a major liability, had it not been for fred last year. we would have been had the worst linebackers in the nfl,. and that was with your boy playing quite a bit
Malcolm Smith can now try and sign on with the revival of Deadwood.

The reverse is also true. It's not our money that they spent on Smith. I'm sure he didn't prevent other people getting signed either. Best to miss in FAs than draft picks. Cap space is easier to come by.
