I don't get how it was a terrible signing when we had so much money. I could see if we were cash strapped but that wasn't the case. Plus he probably helped some of the guys learn the system since he played in the same system his whole career.
Because we only got 35 tackles out of it.
You'll only get HEY KOOLAID responses to this NC.
It's not his fault that some 300 lb. men hit his pectoral.

To be clear I never said it was a great signing lmao. It's just not something that really matters at this point. Even if the dude played lights out, these past two years have been a wash. They plugged the holes by drafting Warner and signing Alexander I would say that's a win. Hightower would never pick a rebuilding 49ers team with hoyer being the quarterback. We had to sign someone with knowledge of the defense to help younger players learn the defense. it happens all the time. Use your brain or do you not have one?

We usually give the thread 24 hours until we move it, guess not.

Who cares how much we paid him, it didn't affect our cap at all and it's not our money. We signed him it didn't work out it happens to everyone not just us. Ask the browns about Jamie Collins. We probably signed him for veteran leadership and to help young lb in the film room. Didn't cost us anything. Didn't prohibit us from landing a big free agent. Why complain?

most people knew it was a bad signing cuz most knew he was a average player at best. knew we over payed and on the rare times he was healthy he did s**t. i know some homers will defend him and lynch in the signing. but i am glad no one is saying.... well maybe we can bring him back cheap if no one claims him. we had the money so its ok to sign or extend crap players... ugh

Are you seriously questioning why a player like Hightower would want to change teams, pay more taxes, change systems, deal with a rebuild, etc over being on an obvious contender where he got a ring? Just like BB had to do, Lynch needs to build through the draft while working trades and getting FA's willing to deal with SF. Obviously a work in progress. You make the assumption that guys like Hightower even considered signing here.

At that same token, Malcolm was brought in b/c of his familiarity with the system. I'm just happy Lynch reworked his deal last season and saved us some big $$

Good luck Mr. Smith. Injury just kept him from ever being a contributor. Not his fault or the 49ers fault (maybe the medical staff a little). That they let him go says that we have built up the LB corp with young, solid players. How can this be viewed as anything but a positive. And by releasing him a week before cut down day gives him a chance to be considered by other teams. Classy move.

Has Pete Carroll signed him yet?
