He had a team option deal for a little over $5M in 2021 that had to be picked up by the end of the yr.
He had a two year team option anyways. So it was always going to be two years regardless.
Yes, they lowered his cap space by giving him a fully gtd deal. Because, ya know, cap space is easy to create
You can create cap space we all know this, you also tie yourself to a 40 yr old kicker in the process with a fully gtd contract. There's give and take. You know this.
Top 5 kickers this yr avg pay is around $750K.
I'm cool with the deal, it's not life altering cash as far as the cap goes.

Easy for both sides...fully gtd contract at his age, he will take that all day.

Definitely, I remember the days of Jose Cortez and having an inconsistent kicker is very disappointing. Especially when points are tough to get.
No one tops owen poochman. aka.. club med.. old school posters will remember that

"like 4 field goals"? It was literally the last game we played... you can't remember the number of kicks he missed?
He missed two. And an extra point.
Your post is a perfect example of the amount of exaggeration that dilutes any attempt at conversation on these boards

Nice extension to create cap space for next season by both sides. A win-win move for a team ready for playoff run

I can see Tomlinson getting an extension to push the cap down a little in 2021 as well.

You know your cap about to be tight when we hype about a kicker extension to create a lil cap space I had no idea FG kickers were even close to making 5 million a year
