Kicker Robbie Gould

I don't think it can be understated how impactful not having our kicker was in this loss. It really was the domino that fell that caused a chain reaction of unfortunate events. No Gould meant 3 points off the board with a usual routine kick being missed. Missing Gould to begin with put added pressure to the offense, because now TDs are basically only worth 6 on average because percentages of 2 pt conversions are low. So now you are in a spot against a good offensive team in Seattle, where you basically have to blow them out to have any chance at winning, because a close game puts you at a disadvantage because for every 7 points they score you score 6 and they can score with field goals, and that's not an option for you.

Defensively, now your margin for error is even less because to make up for the handicap offensively caused by a lack of kicking game you now need to keep them from scoring field goals in order to have a chance. That's before we even talk about how you absolutely need to win the turnover battle in this situation.

Given the lack of kicker, this game was essentially lost in the second quarter when we failed to go up by 3 TDs when we had the opportunity.
Only the 49ers would have the f**king kicker get hurt in pre game

This. I'm actually very optimistic, given that we only lost by 7 pts with no kicker and 2 turnovers.

Couldn't he have done the onside kick with an injured groin? I saw him waking around on the sideline. Come on man.
Funny Gould was out in 2019 when we played Seattle at home.

Obviously we are not winning the game with no kicker. Thats a given. Qb doesnt even matter. We straight up lose.

How long is he out? Does anybody buy the injured during warmup thing?
Gould out 3-5 weeks ? Really ?

Is it time to just roll with another kicker that's out there looking for a job that is healthy and is not brittle like this guy ?

There's some decent kickers waiting for an opportunity at a fraction of the cost. What's the hit for saying sayonara to Gould ?

Dude is always injured last second against the Seahawks.

Sign some other kicking vet because this aint it.

It is suspicious lol.

I swear it's like Groundhog Day against that team. Injured kicker injured Jimmy muffed kickoff return. I saw this movie before

It just shows that we are a much better team than Seattle. If it takes all those injuries and freak injuries at that to even beat us they are in serious trouble. We just need to get a little healthier and they won't beat

This is on coaching too...mofo was in his 17th season, no contingency plan?

Yeah, we need to have a kicker on the PS for emergency's.

lol nobody keeps a contingency kicker. There are plenty of kickers available in free agency. Unlike QB, where there aren't even 32 good NFL QB's, there are more than 32 NFL caliber kickers, and nobody carries two, so there are options if you need one. We should've just kept that Vizcaino kid from last year.

Correct.

If a kicker is hurt in pregame and you don't have a backup kicker on the 53 man roster, you are f'd. And last I checked all 32 teams do not have a second kicker on the active roster. And you can't make a practice squad call up an hour or two before the game, it just doesn't work as such.
Who's gonna kick while he's out? Vizcaino looked pretty good in limited time but he's with the Chargers now. Not sure who's really out there...will be interesting to see who they bring in.
