Yeah because SF is so far from being in the mix of winning him a ring. What a ridiculous post lol.

We don't even know who our starting QB will be next season. Gould doesn't have enough years left to risk wasting any more of them on a franchise that can't figure out the most important position.

There's a reason we are top 5 in betting odds to win it all next season. Absolutely loaded team with a great coaching staff. We don't know who is going to be ready week 1 at THIS point in time but thankfully it's March. I realize now I shouldn't have taken the bait…

Absolutely loaded, but with zero rings to show for it and we don't have a starting QB on the roster right now. I can't speak for Robbie Gould and don't know his reasons, but I get why he would turn down potentially more money with us to try to chase a ring elsewhere. He said himself last year that he badly wants to win a ring to cap off his career.

How do we not have a starting QB on the roster?

I mean, if we had a game today, who would start? Jimmy is not under contract, Purdy is probably 6-8 months away, and Lance is still rehabbing. Even if they are healthy in time for the season, it's a stretch to call Lance a starter at this point and Purdy isn't without questions either. That's a lot of uncertainty at the most important position.

I just don't think the Niners were gonna pay him $6M per to be the kicker. Don't be shocked if we draft someone
I know Gould was going to be expensive but now we have to go find anther reliable kicker. One more item on the shopping list.

5th Round pick - Jake Moody

I say UDFA kicker
I don't know if he thinks he can get a ring with some other team or that he thinks the 49er QB situation holds him back.

It may just be a case of the Niners not willing to pay what he wants.

got a million day 3 picks and there's some good kickers in the draft. Let's get cheaper and younger

It's about time Gould moved on. At 40 years old, I think it's time they found a new kicker, maybe Randy Bullock or Chase McCloughlin.

The distance from his home in Chicago was an issue the last time. He'll probably sign somewhere much closer this time around.
If they want a FA kicker get Wish college teammate Matt Gay.

Honestly can't blame him. He wants a ring and our team can't stay healthy enough to win it.

LMAO

Yup. Cap space is at a premium. With the amount of picks we have, perfect time to draft a kicker.

Gould has definitely been one of the better kickers in our history.
