gould is valuable, obviously. But that's also why he will hit UFA. We cant afford to pay what other teams will pay. Six years was a good run. It's time to move on. It has run its course - this will happen with all players on our roster. It's a risk, of course, but you can't have the best at all positions all the time. Have to build an entire roster.

The video from Lombardi said something about the 49ers decision coming during the combine. Makes it sound like the 49ers wanted to get a look at the college kickers, before deciding to pursue Gould or not. I'm thinking they told him no, and it's more of a team decision than Gould wanting out.

Yeah because there are alot of teams with a better chance at winning the SB than the Niners that happen to need a kicker lol.

Atleast this might force Kyle to gamble more on 4th down.

See ya. You can't boot em past 54 so we need some youth anyway. Thanks for your time served.

He played hard ball last time, and even then he wanted to stay closer to home and his family. Its time we move to a younger kicker. We enjoyed the streak of playoff makes, but a younger kicker will kick the ball deeper without chances of a runback, and probably won't get scratched during warmups like Robby has done lately.

Thanks Robby! You've been pretty reliable for us these last few years. Time for some more 2 pt attempts (j/k). I'm good with drafting with one of our 5th.

I get the feeling we are about to over draft a kicker. 😎

Lucky we have plenty of mid-round picks to work with this year eh.

There are. And they've won Superbowls already, unlike us.

Yep. Pretty much. Clutch on FG attempts. Horrible kickoff guy. Outside of Mexico City, where the air pressure helped sail the ball into the stands, Robbie could only muster long balls to the 10 which meant the opposing team always had a chance for a good return. Will miss him though…

Yeah because SF is so far from being in the mix of winning him a ring. What a ridiculous post lol.
We don't even know who our starting QB will be next season. Gould doesn't have enough years left to risk wasting any more of them on a franchise that can't figure out the most important position.
There's a reason we are top 5 in betting odds to win it all next season. Absolutely loaded team with a great coaching staff. We don't know who is going to be ready week 1 at THIS point in time but thankfully it's March. I realize now I shouldn't have taken the bait…
Absolutely loaded, but with zero rings to show for it and we don't have a starting QB on the roster right now. I can't speak for Robbie Gould and don't know his reasons, but I get why he would turn down potentially more money with us to try to chase a ring elsewhere. He said himself last year that he badly wants to win a ring to cap off his career.
Wtf you mean turn down more money? We're already tight on cap space so why tf would we give a 41 year old kicker 5 plus mil when we can save and just draft a rookie? It's a big risk but understandable, highly doubt it's Robbie who wants to leave and not Lynch telling him they're going in a cheaper younger route.
