Can they franchise tag Gould and say state they would be willing to get a second this year and a second next year as compensation instead of 2 1's?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only way this would work is if we applied the exclusive franchise tag and then directly traded him. I think non-exclusive tag has to be two first's no matter what.

Ahhh homers.
Big difference. Gostkowski wanted to play for NE, they just had to work out a deal. Gould wants the fk out of this crap hole. Can't wait till he "accidentally " starts shanking FG attempts. Great idea to have a disgruntled kicker on the team.

Lol, @ not wanting to be in SF. Dude will ball out just like he always has. It's almost like some posters here just wish for the worst for this team

I know you like to troll a lot but seriously? You think he's gonna miss kicks on purpose? That will certainly help him in free agency. Nothing sells a kicker on the open market like missing kicks...

Any player who deliberately plays poorly while on a franchise tag is pretty ****ing stupid.

Goods**t. Can't let this dude just walk. Maybe he really wants to be here too and he's just playing the game too. Acting as if he doesn't need us.

They clearly do and it's sad.
I'm as critical of Lynch/Shanahan/Jed as it gets but you can tell by the tone of my posts that I don't wish for failure. Some of these other posters clearly want failure. Anybody who isn't socially inept can tell the difference.

In the recent interview, Gould himself recognized that "a lot of things have to change" for him to go back to Chicago.
Yeah, like letting a 26 year old top 10 CB walk in FA instead of re-signing him. (DBs of Callahan's level are earning $12-14M/yr.) Even then they will have to redo several contract just to sign Gould and the rookies they will be drafting.
Now if we have a choice of signing Gould or Bryce Callahan... Gould. However, it doesn't have to come to that.

At this point if we tag him it's to trade him. We have the money, so if he doesn't want a deal then, we need to get something for him. It's a business decision

Dude wants to be a Bear, hard.

It sure sounds like #49ers K Robbie Gould wants to reunite with the #Bears. But there are some complicating factors. https://t.co/OqZ0LxjV45 pic.twitter.com/6GBJo8533Q

Branch's quote on Chicago cap space does not agree with overthecap. Branch says $20M, overthecap says $7,299,741. I'll go with overthecap.
Bears way overpaid Allen Robinson and now it is biting them in the butt. They also have $22.3M tied up in Mack. Trey Burton gets $8.3M for his year of disappointment.
Yes, there are some major complicating factors.
