He'll have the last laugh because he'll cost us the playoffs.....

So AB wants to come here but RG wants to go to Chicago..we need to get our priorities straight.

K > WR

They're not mutually exclusive. And you dont want to he the bears, spend big on a big time WR but have your kicker double doink in the playoffs.

That receiver put up 150 yards that game and the kick was tipped/blocked.

To your point though, PK's can't be undervalued. Playoffs are when we see the importance most.

I hope our FO doesn't do Gould a solid as we should have a legit chance at competing for the playoffs this year. And Gould will be a big reason for that.

Gould knew he didn't wanna be a niner long term since he signed, the dude made 5M in 2 seasons over here. Played absolutely fantastic, theres no freaking way we don't offer him another contract after how he performed . How don't you move your family over to you when you've played that well and made that much money? Dude didn't even rent a condo! Living in a hotel is his choice IMO. Just can't imagine going back to a team that kicked my ass to the curb.

2 year contract is just that 2 years. Kickers aren't like other positions...one crucial kick missed and they're done.

I don't blame him for not moving his family for a 2 year deal and a new situation.

I have a feeling we'll give him a decent long term deal that he'll take and move his family at this point with some solid guarantees in his contract.

Sounds like Gould prefers to be in Chicago, and would cost northwards of 5 million per year to resign him ...

Would you consider a trade of Gould for parkey who is under contract for another 3 more years at like 3 mill per year, with Chicago throwing in their 2nd or 3rd in 2020 based on performance? Unfortunately Chicago only have four picks this year ..

I think we need another year to content for super bowl

It depends on what happens this offseason.

Look at Chicago. They jump from picking ahead of us in the draft last year to being a missed kick away from advancing to the playoffs and a couple of small loses from having #2 seed in the NFC.

IMO our roster can make a similar jump with some key additions this offseason and finally some luck on the non injury front - something the Bears had last year.

True, it does depend on how we do this yr. It certainly isn't between 13 Ws (my last yrs forecast...gulp) but i don't think it will be 8 Ws either. But when you have a team on the verge of breakthrough (that be us) and you have a guy who arguable was responsible for 40% of our 10 measly Ws in the last 2 yrs, man that seems like a slam dunk...DO NOT LET HIM LOOSE.. type of deal. If the team plays out of their skulls, but looses those same 4 Ws that Robbie won, that makes all the difference between 10 Ws and 6 Ws.(or pick your own number). Point is if we are on the precipice and just need a nudge , man i want Robbie G back there deciding if we W or L. It is just that simple from where i sit. His % success is mind numbing. I don't recall a PK in recent yrs with a record quite like that, and some of those were NOT chip shots either. He isn't afraid of banging away at 50+ yds.

I guess...Robbie wasn't critical this past yr. But how many teams this yr lost by a FG...or close to it. Answer is in playoffs, those FGs determined winners who moved on towards the Lombardi trophy. I agree with the tag if accord isn't reached. Would really hate to see him go.

One of these yrs kyle is going to get the RZ working with TDs, not FGs. We all look forward to that. But in those really tough, close games, having a guy who can knock them down from 50 yds out...invaluable.
Bears just cleared $6M in cap space by cutting TE Dion Sims. That gives them roughly $13M with key targets being Callahan and Amos...and Gould if they want $10+M tied up in the kicker position.

I'm sure they'd have no problem spending that after what happened to them this past season.

That's why I don't understand when people say "we are NOT one or TWO players away from the playoffs or competing for the SB..

Here was a possible scenario, get Mack last year & AB this year, and I'm thinking we are in the Playoffs..
Not only would those two players allow you to "more easily" take BPA in the draft, it eliminates so much need we still need..

Just takes the right front office to get off their asses and make the correct moves.
Yes I said correct moves..

Well we're tagging him so it's irrelevant.
