Look at Chicago. They jump from picking ahead of us in the draft last year to being a missed kick away from advancing to the playoffs and a couple of small loses from having #2 seed in the NFC.

IMO our roster can make a similar jump with some key additions this offseason and finally some luck on the non injury front - something the Bears had last year.

That's why I don't understand when people say "we are NOT one or TWO players away from the playoffs or competing for the SB..

Here was a possible scenario, get Mack last year & AB this year, and I'm thinking we are in the Playoffs..
Not only would those two players allow you to "more easily" take BPA in the draft, it eliminates so much need we still need..

Just takes the right front office to get off their asses and make the correct moves.
Yes I said correct moves..

Yup.
Imagine how unbearable the last 5 years would've been without Phil Dawson and Robbie Gould being nearly flawless...

They were they only consistent scorer on the entire team most years.

Well we're tagging him so it's irrelevant.

With more and more players pushing back against the tag, I hope we get a long-term deal with him instead of the tag. Tags are a bad look.

I think...and hope that Kyle and John had 2019 circled on their calendars. Foster's crap and the injuries last year certainly hurt but I think this team has enough young talent, salary cap and draft capital with the high pick to make their move now.

I don't blame them for not going crazy last offseason and getting all these big names because there were still a lot of holes but now with this draft class and potentially free agency class playing into our biggest need at edge rusher. If we're aggressive and lucky we can make a quick worst to first jump.

Getting Earl Thomas would go a long way to settling our secondary. The guy is perfect for this scheme and makes it run. He and Sherman have chemistry, hopefully we throw enough money at him and he's got enough desire to stick it to Seattle to sign with us over Dallas.

Getting Nick Bosa would solidify the DL and finally give us someone who can shut things down if we have a lead. His addition will also allow Solomon Thomas a chance to save his career by moving inside consistently.

Getting Antonio Brown would certainly bring a whole new level to our offense.

I don't know if we'll end up making these moves but the fact that the opportunity to make those moves exists means with a little luck our team could add some impact players at the right time.

Cross your fingers that we make these moves and everyone plays great for us with no serious injuries since we've had our damn fill last few years.

Better Rivals podcast pretty much ripped the idea of "franchising" Gould.
It's not politically correct to franchise tag a kicker? Too bad. What is Gould asking for just out of curiosity?

And yet....the Pats are considering to do it for Gostowski

Whats the plan if we let Gould walk to the Bears? Just get a guy.....?

We are so bad in the red zone. Its foolish to let go of your best offensive player

lol. Anyone can have a podcast these days. Yeah, awful to keep one of the best kickers in the NFL at an appropriate salary when his impact on the cap is essentially nothing.

I mean I get the whole idea that you don't want to live and die by the franchise tag but come on, it's a kicker lol. It's an extra mil or so for 1 year versus what he'd get annually for 2-3 years, not a game changer.

Wonder what they say if we had a scrub kicker blowing games for us. Dunno when people are gonna realize kickers are important

Yeah, those guys are obsessed with "value" rather than sucking it up sometimes and just acquiring TALENT. They are always looking for the Mike Person's of the world. They even said it might be best to get Graham + Barrett vs. spending the money to get Lawrence. LOL.

Anyway, their point was almost all his kicks are within 40 yards and you can get anyone to make those and use the $5M elsewhere at a more important position such as SCB, ER, LB, etc.

They really need to pay more attention to what this FO actually does...tendencies. Most of the guys they targeted in their pool are going to get substantially more than they are projecting.

I think it was those dudes leading the charge on Harold Landry last year as a top 5 pick. It's all about the clicks baby.
