What is the incentive to leak? It would have more leverage if they knew it internally to use as a bargaining chip. Once leaked, there is no leverage.

Their fan base, and the court of public opinion. They want ppl on their side and not the qb's side. they want the headlines to read "selfish qb won't sign deal". They don't want the headlines to be "cheap ass owners won't pay franchise qb". How would keeping in internal give any leverage when it's already common knowledge to both sides internally?
