Dude, that Kush will mess ya up. We have a major problem with synthetic marijuana in Houston. The fact it is even called "synthetic marijuana" is an absolute joke. That's like calling heroin synthetic alcohol. Kush puts these guys in a very bad place.... it's basically akin to LSD+PCP+Meth all rolled together.

I can imagine this dude is already in a bad place as he should be; that drug will make certain solutions appear reasonable.

in the end, I have no feeling of remorse for the guy.

Well there you go. If there was a loop hole to get his money for his family by killing himself I guess smoking synthetic drugs while in prison smashes that theory.

Wish more lifers would kill themselves, saves the taxpayers money and makes the prison a safer place for the employees.

Then the private companies wouldnt make any money as they are profiting from this. Its a business, it really doesnt save any taxpayers anything if private companies are banking on the state to arrest. Its a profitable business. They do nothing to rehabilitate you. The prison system is to blame just as much as Aaron was to blame for murder.

"The Spoils of Mass Incarceration
The United States imprisons more people — both per capita and in absolute terms — than any other nation in the world, including Russia, China, and Iran."

"Leading private prison companies essentially admit that their business model depends on high rates of incarceration. For example, in a 2010 Annual Report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), the largest private prison company, stated: "The demand for our facilities and services could be adversely affected by . . . leniency in conviction or parole standards and sentencing practices . . . ."

They are investing in these prisons over education.. What do you think will happen??
A lot of people are beyond repair and can't be rehabilitated. I have a 23 year old nephew doing 2-5 for trying to strangle his girlfriend, he is an evil sociopath. He did almost a dozen stints in juvenile hall in Idaho where they are treated like adults. He got kicked out of school for body slamming a 65 year old female teacher. He does not deserve to be free in a civilized society.

Before they pulled funding from mental institutions in the 80's, they'd have put him away in an asylum.

Well, if it was part of a broken mirror used to slice his finger or something shiny enough... it's possible.

After all, obviously he was able to sneak in a fire implement and drugs.... and was able to smoke them without impediment.... I don't think supervision was all that tight.

His suicide voids his guilt as case is on appeal, he died an "innocent" man

And no evidence in original trial can be used in civil trial for wrongful death

Very interesting and does provide some insight into why Hernandez might want to kill himself at this time. I was skeptical when I heard the news thinking that it made no sense for suicide given the recent acquittal.

Serious? I would think since he can't appeal, it would just go back to the last official decision "Guilty."
I just can't wrap my neck around this..

If anyone is remotely interested in an outsiders (Australian) perspective on US crime/criminal justice, America is one of the scarier places I've been to.

I've had to go to Seattle, Chicago and Austin for work... all of them it was pretty confronting the amount of obvious drug addicts and bums there were in parts of the cities. Took a wrong turn in Chicago and I was like "If I go another 20 yards I'm going to get stabbed". That's not normal for me. As much as the private prison system is awful and not doing its job, something else is filling them up.

The really sad part is that my job also took me to St Petersburg in Russia and Minsk. Minsk is in Belorussia and it's like the last truly Communist dictatorship. People sometimes put it in the same league as North Korea. Neither city was I scared in the slightest save a bit of crazy totalitarian paranoia at immigration going in and out. Lots of poor people there and much less overall wealth... but most of the poor people at least looked like they had a job and somewhere to live.

Now this was two big cities and I'm sure things are pretty awful in a lot of the regional areas (and who knows, maybe the crazy a*****es in power just round all the bums up and have them shot) but the difference was very noticeable. And no... I'm not saying Russia is better than the US... it's not, it's not in a LOT of ways... but there are definitely a lot of areas I think the States is letting its people down big time.
